image.jpg Anya was born at 23+6, weighing 655g, she is now 3.5years old. She has mild hemiplegia cerebral palsy after a grade 4 IVH. But she doesn't let that hold her back. She's full of mischief. :haha:

Ahhhhh look at Anya <3

 They've all grown up so quickly. Anya is still tiny though. We're delaying her a year from school, so she's getting 2.5 years at nursery. So she'll be 5 years and 10 months when she starts school. How are your beautiful girlies? Xx

Sophie was born at 27 weeks exactly, weighing 1lb 13oz. This is her now, taken a couple of weeks ago when she was a flower girl at her uncle's wedding. She turned 4 in March. x

I haven't got an option with Alex I have to throw her in this year  her ivh4 landed with autism, so schools a worry. But they are great!!! Tori has a preassessment for autism next week though, but I hope all is fine.

It's hard letting them go. Anya goes to school nursery and I can notice such a difference between her and the other kids. The kids baby her because she's small and still delayed by about 6-12 months. Do you go to staged assessments? We just had another one recently, and Anya's behaviour and temper was brought up. They want to keep an eye on it. She has paed consultant in next few months, so maybe she'll shed more light on it. Xx

New pics!

He spent 2 days on the vent, day 4 he was taken off from all the macines and was put on the crib as they wanted to see how he will cope at home if discharged. His doing ok and only had a problem with latching, he will latch for a min and forgets then fall asleep. They are currenly using a syrynge to feed him. I might be taking my little man home soon

It's been quite awhile since I posted so I'm not sure if anyone will remember me, but my little girl is 9 months old now. She was born at 30 weeks because of severe preeclampsia. She's doing so well now our much days almost seem far away. She started out at 2 lb 8 oz and she was just weighed the other day at 19 lb 9 oz. So far she seems pretty well on track for her adjusted age. She still has some tightness in her neck from torticollis and she also has epilepsy, but otherwise she seems fine. Couldn't ask for anything more at this point. Here are a few pictures from when she was first born and shone recent ones.

Our little Riya bean was born at 27+6 (12 weeks early) on October 7th, 2014. She weighed 2lb 8.4oz, 15 inches long. There was no reason they could find for her early birth. New research is suggesting that it might be something that runs in my family (I was born premature). I know she is not as old as some of the other babies posted on here but I wanted to show the difference, and post how well she is doing.

She did not need any extra oxygen, and was put on the cpap right away (breathing room air). So far she has not had any complications while in the NICU other than the normal preemie stuff like apnea and bradys. She gets moved to a new pod soon, the pod that all the babies go to who no longer need the intensive care and only need to learn to feed. We are hoping she picks it up quickly since she has been going to town on her paci they give her.

The first picture is of Riya right after she was born. The second one is of her when she was about a week old. The last two were taken 2 days ago when she first got her cpap off. She will hopefully be home with us early December!!

What a wonderful thread. Here's our story...I had already had ds (born at 38+4 but only at 2340g due to a single artery umbilical cord) followed by 2mcs. At 13w pg with our Natalia I started bleeding heavily, was given a cerclage and put on strict bed rest (could only get up to go to the bathroom) until delivery. So at 35+2 it was my sons birthday...thought the docs were being over paranoid so decided to get up to go but him a present for his 2nd bday! While in the car I started having this very weird pain (it was constant) but stubborn as I was I told hubby She was probably trying to turn head down (was footling) and I d call the doc after our boy blew his candles. After an hour they promised to hold the candles so I could be checked out in the hospital...by the time we arrived about 1/2 hour later I was contracting every 2 minutes, our girl was trying to rip through that stitch to come out. Doc said had it been half an hour later we d both be dead. They didn't even have enough time for prep...she came out weighing 2kgs. She stayed in the nicu for 3 days just for observation as she was bfing perfectly and breathing on her own with no problems. They wanted to keep her in a little longer but I refused to let her there as all medical reports had come back good! She's 2.5 yrs now, almost as tall as her older brother, almost the same weight (yes he is still not a big fan of food) and thriving!

That is an amazing story :hugs:

It has been one week and a day since our baby came home from the NICU. She is thriving and loving it!

My original due date was today as well.

Gorgeous little fighter! So glad she's home n doing great! These stories are just inspirational!

Beautiful thread!
I haven't posted on this forum for months but I have recently gone back to work and my lunchtimes are now unusually quiet!
My story is that my waters broke (PPROM) at 24+9. It was a scary, horrible time but I managed to keep baby cooking for 5 weeks until I caught infection and had to have an ECS at 24+9.
Archie came into the world weighting 3lb 5oz and he completed our family (I also have a 2y6m old little girl) He spent 7 long and emotional weeks in NICU and we brought him the day before NYE.
He is now 9 months (actual) and quite simply doing AMAZING! PREEMIE POWER :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:
