  1. The name must sound acceptable with the following words or phrases: "Doctor ________," "The Honorable Judge ________," or "And the Grammy goes to ________." Can you imagine The Honorable Judge Petal Blossom Rainbow Oliver? Yeah, that's why you're doing it wrong, Jools.
  2. The name must not be kreatyvley spealt. Do not make your kid say the words, "No, it's Robert with TWO Bs" or "It's Peyton, P-E-I-G-H-T-Y-N-N" for the rest of his or her life. People already suck at spelling as things are. If there is an established spelling for the name, use it.
  3. The initials must not spell something embarrassing, like Steven Tyler Donaldson (STD) or Pauline Isabel Geiger (PIG).
That is all. All of the other things that we either love or hate---common names, unusual names, family names that are passed down from generation to generation, gender-bending names, religious names, names that have a bad association for you because some kid in elementary school with that name used to give you swirlies---are a matter of taste, culture, and opinion.

If your preferred name fits those three rules, there is nothing wrong with it. Use it.

Lol-those poor kids. I sympathize the most with Petal- no chance of using a real name ever, at least Daisy, Maurice and Rosie can get pulled from the others.
