Hi girls,

I'm wondering if this has ever happened to anyone? I'm doing an IVF cycle, and went in for my first ultrasound today. But they could not find my right ovary! I've had ultrasounds before and this has never happened. Dr. thinks my bowel is obstructing it.

But how do I move it then? Does it just go back to where it is supposed to on its own? I have another ultrasound on Thursday...

If they can't find it, how can they do the IVF?

There is always something isn't there?

I have to say I have never heard of that happening, but then again I am no gynecological dictionary!
And yes, my dear, it is always something!

I am sure you will go back next time and it will be plain as day on the screen :)

it sounds weird...
did u done EC yet?
did u had a ultrasound before the IVF treatment?

I went for a general ultrasound a while back & they couldn't find one of my ovaries, not because it wasn't there but because something was in the way of it, apparently it's quite common :)

Hey Latestarter

Im one of the girls who have a scan done every month.. OUCH.. But there has been an occassion when they couldnt find one of mine as well. I do believe its common. Good luck for Thursday.

Ovaries are flexible. This happened to me and the following day it was back. They need to be or would be risk being damaged every time you get a bump. It will prob re appear next ultrasound. X

Thanks all. I contacted my clinic and they said it was very common. I'm surprised since its never happened before. But they fully expect to see it tomorrow morning when I go in for my next ultrasound.

Have not had egg retrieval yet - still waiting for the eggies to grow a bit more.

Hey latestarter,

They call it a 'shy' ovary, I had it when I had a pelvic ultrasound and my right ovary went into hiding and the nurse couldnt find it. It's very common so don't worry.

:hugs:

Hi All - Ovary update.

I had my ultrasound today, and the rogue ovary made an appearance - but just a brief one. I'm hopeful it will be their in full force on Saturday.
