Finally get a BFP after 2.5 years TTC and a loss in June, and the doctors are taking their sweet time arranging a scan even though my last AF *was* the m/c...

So in theory I could be 3 months (?) pregnant and high risk of ectopic, never mind the fact I have PCOS ....

Just feels like they are just waiting for me to lose again and the doctors just get sarky when I say I want my scan NOW.

I was supposed to have it on Monday but they didnt arrange it :(

Also just given up smoking with no help (dont want to chemicalise the baby - if thats even a word!) so not very happy atm.
[EDIT] I don't tend to smoke when TTC but honestly thought I wouldnt get pregnant straight after a m/c!

How do you cope with the waiting!?!

Found out I was pregant on the 9th Sep and still I've had no contact from the midwife, no scans, no nothing.... is this normal?? My first GP appointment said that he'd put an urgent note on all my papers because I might have missed my 11 week scan or test...?

Think I might get the straight jacket out soon...

I got pregnant straight after a mc. No period inbetween. I think you should go back to the doctors and demand they do something. After an mc you should get extra care (hope that didn't affend anyone). When I went to my doctor after getting a positive, she booked me in for a scan two weeks later. Also, call your doctors and arrange an appointment with the midwife. I wasn't reffered, I just made my own appointment for when I was 8 weeks.

Good luck :)

Sounds like you need a new doctor. I found a very proactive doctor. After I told them of my loss they sent me for bloodwork and started my progesterone injections the next day. So I was getting proper care the day after my positive HPT. My doctor said they'll do a scan anytime if I have any cramping or anything, but I'm choosing to wait until after 10 weeks. I don't want to worry unnecessarily.

I had my first scan almost immediately after I saw my GP (I was 9 wks then) as she wanted me to be reassured given my previous m/c; I think you should (or your oh?) call your doctor's surgery and demand attention!

best wishes

Hi Maxi,

I can't believe your doctors surgery are treating you so badly!

I went to the docs to tell them about my positive test on the day I missed my period, so exactly 4 weeks, they booked me in for my booking appointment with midwife at 6 weeks 3 days.(I think this is usually at 8/10 weeks) I went to see her and she got me a scan 2 days later - I wasn't having any pain or bleeding this was just to reassure me. I had a letter a few days after to say they had booked my dating scan for 11 weeks 1 day.

It seems so unfair that the treatment and reassurance you get depends on where you live and who your doctor is!

You should complain to your practice manager or demand to see another doctor?

Hope you managed to get seen soon :(

I thought they were being really bad about this all =/

I might just call up and get my doctor changed - I cant really afford to try avoid offending anyone at this point really!

Thanks ladies :) its nice to know im not just being fussy and impatient :p

So just got off phone to doctors and hospital (Im supposed to get an urgent scan at hospital apparently!) and both said that they can only put everything through as fast as they can... which apparently is how fast they are doing it now...

The one woman actually said something to the effect of theres no rush, you've got 9 months all in all!!!

I absolutely FREAKED!
Told them if I lost my baby before I could get a scan I would sue em :p
Hopefully that works and I get a phone call at some point today!!

Also finally got an appointment with the midwife - its been booked for days now and they just havent bothered to tell me about it... its on monday!?
WOnder if they would have told me tomorow or wait until I was late for appointment...

I am definitely NOT impressed with the care I'm getting and Im seriously considering going private! Cant really afford it but Id rather starve and have a healthy baby - yes I know thats contradictory :p you get the idea though.

Ive ben paying taxes since I was 16, always paid for my prescriptions and certain treatments - now Im apparently entitled to free meds and such, even though its not kicked in yet, I get treated like carp?!

Hope you ladies are all having a better time with the proffesionals!!! <3

Wooo angry pregnant woman FTW :D

Everything is sorted :p

Wouldnt have got the nerves up to yell at them if it hadnt been for you ladies <3

Good for you. I'm glad you stood up for yourself. You are the only advocate your child has. Good job mom!

good! I am glad that they are taking you more seriously!

We had a horrible time with my first pregnancy (m/c at 7-8 wks) at a scandal-ridden hospital from hell here in co. Louth (north of Dublin, but in Ireland), look up 'miscarriage scandal Irish hospitals'....and we decided to go private at another hospital this time around, our experience has been fantastic and even when I mention that we were at the other place, the midwives/doctors physically shudder; so, Maxi, if you do feel uncomfortable at any stage, look into moving surgeries -- I don't think switching hospitals would have made a difference as I had a natural, complete m/c BUT we are still angry at how we were treated....

best wishes
