Think I'm miscarrying, do I need to tell anyone or just let it happen?

I've been spotting for about a week, but today I started to feel sick, took a test and positive. Which is a massive surprise! Anyway, I must be 8 week plus I think, we were not trying and haven't done the deed much lately, the test turned instantly too so I'm guessing my when we can think if dates I'm 8-10 weeks.

Anyway, I, bleeding heavier now and it's bright red, I think I'm probably losing it and feel really light BH type feelings, no pain but seems fairly likely I'm losing it.

There are a few things though,

    1. I've had a previous missed miscarriage which I had a D&C for, so I'm not experience a natural miscarriage and not sure what to expect or do.

    2. All my healthy pregnancies I bled in, but I can't remember how much for how long, I don't think I ever spotted for days and I'm not sure I ever had bright red blood.

    3. My previous healthy pregnancy was twins, so could I lose one but not both? Assuming I was carrying twins again? Or once my cervix opens I'd lose both?

I feel quite pessimistic that I'm losing it, and I'd rather not anyone know, so if avoided I would rather not have to tell my parents who undoubtably would have to watch my three kids if I went for a scan or internal. I'm not sure what I should do if anything? Just wait a few days see what happens?

My medical miscarriage failed and then a few days later the bleeding started and I passed some tissue and bled very badly and needed an emergency D&C. With a natural miscarriage the same thing could happen- very heavy bleeding and the need for emergency surgery. So obviously if that happened you'd have to go in.

I had my scans for my miscarriage with my 3 year old and 21 month old present (and no other adult). I told the 3 year old we were going to see if there was a baby in mummy's tummy, and when the scans confirmed miscarriage I just told, her that there was no baby. So you could take the kids with you.......... Of course my 3 yr old told everyone in the local chip shop that mummy was in hospital cos daddy didn't put a baby in her tummy...... so little kids aren't the best people to have along in terms of keeping things a secret.

If everything is straight forward you won't need any medical intervention. I know with the medical miscarriage the follow up would have been a scan 2 week later and I know the natural miscarriage would be the same. Alternative would be to keep testing until tests are negative and bleeding completely stops and if that doesn't happen within a couple of weeks seek help. The danger with things being left behind is further bleeding, pain or infection, so any signs of infection you'd need to seek help.

From what I've read its possible to loose one twin and the other be fine. If you didn't have any miscarriage support then the tests would stay positive.

So I guess its possible to not tell anyone, but at the same time I don't think its something I'd choose to do just in case. Maybe call your GP and get a telephone consultation. Explain you don't want a scan straight away and want to let things happen naturally and come up with a plan on how long it would be safe to do that and what follow up (if any) would be a good idea.

EPU didn't accept self referrals, couldn't get hold of any MWs, got hold of one this morning who said she would call back later.

In a state, still not really bleeding, just spotting, my stomach is hurting but think that's my IBS because I'm so stressed. I just want answers, I tested again and my test was lighter, but still sick, and my pregnancy eczema rash appeared yesterday.

Phone your doctors surgery and ask them to send a referal letter to the EPU (you might have to ask the EPU for their fax number first) and then make an appoinment. That's what I did. Hope things are okay for you.xx

Thanks, saw a mw today and she said I was 13 week but couldn't find a heartbeat, another MW tried too but also couldn't find one, at home hubby tried for ages and couldn't find one! Scan early tomorrow, doesn't sound promising!

They only time my husband hadn't got a heart beat in pregnancy is when I lost my last one.
