so lately i have been thinking about breast feeding longer than the six months i originally planned. i just dont think i will be ready to give it up in three months, because i love the bonding experience, and how easy it is. for people who are or have breast fed after baby got teeth, can you tell me if it is just as easy, or if they bite? thanks!

They physically cant suck and bite at the same time, so you just have watch at the start and the end of a feed. It does take them a little while to get used to having the teeth in their mouths so you can sometimes get teeth scraping, but it stops pretty quickly. If they do bite you can teach them not to by taking them off as soon as they try it, they soon learn some manners. Oh, and Kaya got her first tooth at 4 months so they can cme earlier than 6 months (or later).

I fed my 1st till she was 1, 2nd till she was 15mth and Toby till he was 9mth (only stopped this week:cry:).

I adored breastfeeding, although found it exhausting at times....still reckon it's easier than making up bottles and running downstairs through the night:dohh:

Mine all went through a biting stage...they do stop though. I can't say I ever got enough warning to move them before they did it but to be honest....it's not quite as bad as it sounds (till they get top and bottom teeth:rofl:)

I'm sorry:blush:not meaning to put you off. I was coming on to say how well you've done and to go with the flow and stop when you and baby are ready. Don't give yourself a date etc:hugs::hug:

thanks! i suppose other women do it, so can i, and i will deal with teeth and biting as it happens. so do babies give you signs when they are ready to be weaned?

Aaron is seven months old now and we are still breastfeeding. He got two teeth at five months and has never bitten me, although for the first week I was a little bit sore while he got used to having these strange new things in his mouth!

As milk makes up the main part of their diet for at least a year, I personally find it much easier just to carry on breastfeeding and never having to worry about making up formula. I'm not sure how long I will carry on for, I think I'll leave that up to Aaron.

Well done for getting this far and carry on if you are enjoying it! :happydance:

Great job on deciding to continue! My first bit me once, I screamed and reflexively flicked him in the lip which startled him, and he never bit me again. So they learn pretty quickly. Good luck!
