Those expecting their second baby...

i had a c-section last time. my spinal block wore off right after the surgery and i have never felt pain like that ever. i really hope my next c-section which will be scheduled wont be as painful.

I am petrified!

I had 32 hours of labour and the labour in itself was bad. My contractions were "coupling" which means b4 one would end another would begin and i was only 2-3 cm. Little miss had a tachycardia (heartrate went up to the 200s) and needed a vontuse suction. She had a severe shoulder distocia and the emergancy alarm was rung and the doctor had to put his arm right up me past my cervix to dislodge her while someone was jumping on my tummy. They were about or break her shoulder and then cut through my pelvic bones if that didnt work :( But it did, she came out and i had a 2.5 litre hemmorage, and then the doctor did a manuel placenta removal with his hands. I needed a blood transfusion and stayed in hosp for a week. i didnt get to see my bubs for awhile as they were fixing me up and stopping my bleed. She wasnt crying so i thought she had gone :cry:i have to see a specialist at 20 something weeks about it as i will be high risk. i have the option for a c-section but i dont think i will take it. Maybe next time round will be better. Fingers crossed

WOW MiissMuffet that sounds terrifying! I can totally see why your petrified!

I was really cut up about now being able to have that skin time immediately with my girl for the bonding, but you know what she is 6 now and we are as thick as thieves, we bonded on a level SO much higher than that first skin time, I remember I used to go into the hospital and as soon as I would walk up and say hello to her all her monitors would go off because she was reacting to me being there! Now that is an incredible memory from my not so great time.

Aww plastic i was upset I didnt have that 1st moment of skin to skin too :( She never had to get taken away from me but it was about half an hour before i could hold her but after I first seen her and knew she was ok I was fine with not holding her- she was getting skin to skin time with her daddy, so i was ok with that. Plus i was completely exausted so i was just like meh lol. i think I was too busy cracking up at her trying to latch on to her daddys nipple :haha: i remember it still "i think she is trying to breastfeed" he said, and we watched her nuzzle her way up to his nipple and stick her mouth over it. We all had abit of a laugh despite the awful situation :)

I'm worried about the birth as well but I'm hoping I won't need to be induced and in my mind thats why the first was so bad.

I sound simular to you, I was 10 days overdue and started having awful bleeding after they did a sweep so I was taken by ambulance to hospital where I was induced. The labour was only 3 hours but Josh was back to back and they couldn't see my contractions so they kept telling me I had hours to go when I should have been pushing. Josh's heartbeat started dropping so I needed a forceps delivery but on gas and air. It was awful!

Here' hoping the second doesnt need to be induced for us! :)

Dreading it. Forceps here too last time. I'm hoping to convince my midwife to allow me to have a C sec

im more worried about having a c sec!!
i got rushed to theatre last time and they tried forceps first which worked of course.
i do not want a c-section at all.

hopefully it wont come to that this time!

Funny how different our experiences are. My forcep del was so traumatic, LO had to be resuscitated etc. Mind you I'd been in labour for 64 hours. I was a hero on the ward at the time. Not that that was any consolation. LO was totally stuck. Chord wrapped round twice, wrong way up. Too low down for a c sec, and not budging. It makes my eyes water just thinking about it.

ahh yeah. i was induced at 14 days over. jake was back to back which was horrible. there was just not let up in between the contractions.

the sweeps the midwives gave me at the hospital we're HORRID. so rough and nasty... urgghhh.

i didn't have a bad labour at all, but i didn't cope at all well with the first few weeks after birth & we were readmitted to hospital when bella was a couple of weeks old. so while i'm not terrified of giving birth, i'm terrified of going through the experience i went through with bella after she was born, & it being even worse with a 17 month old to look after too.

*hugs*

xx

I've heard that about inductions, that they are really nasty :( at least I didn't have that too. Hopefully we will all be lucky this time around and our babies will just pop out with a smile on their faces :D

awwwh hun. :( i am sure you will be okay. every baby is different i guess. :)
i had quite a rough time after having jake but for other reason, i didn't end up being readmitted but i had a lot of health visitors and doctors visits.

xx
