I am wondering if I have a mild form of this. What are the symptoms besides lack of ovulation? I ovulate, and have regualr cycles...but haev other symptoms...such as extra body hair (hair on my chin/navel/breasts), I am overweight...200 lbs at 5'8". I also have a history of diabetes, not only with my family, but in my last full pregnancy, I had insulin-dependent (four shots a day) diabetes. I have never been tested (don't know what the test is) but I am wondering after reading an article that didn't go into too much detail, if this might be what I may have? Does anyone know more information? I know that I could just look it up on the web, but I know that you ladies probably know more and better. I do have an appointment coming up within the next two months (haven't been given a date as of yet) with the FS and I am hoping to come armed with knowledge AND questions! Thanks in advance.

Hi hun Im no expert myself, Im going through the process now of being diagnosed.

The only symptoms I have are lack of ovulation (Im on CD43 I thnink) and swollen polycystic ovaries. I aso get stomach cramps on a daily basis which feel as strong as labour contractions but I dont know if thats related.

I found google has lots and lots of info Ive found very useful if no one else here can help :)

I have pcos and only symton i have is the lack of ovulation on cd45 today and no sure if witch is on its way or not.. my periods can vary from cd40 to cd60!!
xx

I have PCOS without the Polycystic ovaries. My symptoms are body hair, spots and extra weight along mid section. Also I don't ovulate. Ever.

I think if you have a hunch that you have some of these symptoms perhaps push your doctor to do an ultrasound/testosterone tests. I remember when I got diagnosed I actually had to put the idea to her first rather than her coming straight out with it. Useless doctors!

The only symptoms I have are that I can go months and months and once went 2 years without periods  Crazy huh?

I am underweight and I am sure it is related as I find it so veryyyy hard to gain weight no matter what I eat,.....

I would ask for a scan x x

Hiya!

My mild PCO was picked up by internal scan - I don't have any of the regular symptoms - I ovulate, have regular cycles, not excessively hairy (1 or 2 chin hairs ), no spots, I do have weight around my mid-riff but put that down to liking for chocolate! - the cysts were just picked up on the internal scan...

I would ask for one if you think there is a possibility..

Good luck! :)

Hi the symptoms i have is lack of ovulation, excess body hair especially a little strip of darker hair from my belly button down (im fair haired everywhere else) the guy who scanned me told me that was a sign x

Oh I didnt know that, I too have that and I dont actually like it so I shave it  Its nice to know theres a reason why its a little darker than my other hair though....x

hi all, when you all got diagnosed wha happened next?
i have been told i have pcos and endo an polyp in my womb, but the consultant said he is going to do a lap to remove the polyp and see how bad the endo is.
he made no mention of the pcos.
i said about it and he told me to loose weight.
i am 15 stone at 5 3 tall, and gaining weight by the week, i am spotty and have to shave underarms every day along with the lip wax once a week and all the rest lol i expected to be given some pills?
should i ask for some?

Thanks all. I think I will ask about it then. I have the "treasure trail", hair chins, and excessive weight around my tummy that just won't budge!

Jasmak - it could also just be high testosterone or local androgens. Look up stuff about hirsutism. It doesn't always mean PCOS, although you can have regular periods with it. I see you have had 3 miscarriages, that is also something that happens with women who have PCOS - lots and lots of miscarriages. Good luck!

yeah testosterone can cause this also, but best to try and get a diagnosis

I have acne (at 29 I am not happy), excess hair, skin tags, excess weight round my middle, and PCO's

When I was diagnosed I was taken for an internal and external scan, and I have to have those blood tests where you drink that horrible stuff and then get three different blood tests within an hour of eachother (like for diabetes). As PCOS is an insulin based condition.

I was put on Metformin as treatment, I was also initially put on Clomid but after 12 or so cycles on Clomid I told them I would not take it anymore.

Thanks for all the info ladies! I really appreciate it. I will try looking up some stuff later.

Hi

I was diagnosed with pcos almost 10 years ago now. i don't overlate every month and i find it really had to lose weight. They did an internal ultrasound and i also had a laparoscopy. I have just been refered back to the fertility clinic and have my 1st appointment on 26th august. They had me on Clomid for 18 cycles b4 they did the laparoscopy and found that i only have 1 tube, 1 kidney pcos and my whomb is all on my left side. If they had of done this 1st i wudn't of been on clomid for that long.
Good luck to every1 xxx
