We've both loved the name Lily since.. well forever really but it's really disappointing me that it's still number 12 in the UK last year. It has gone down from number 1 a few years ago but that is still ALOT of Lily's. I just can't seem to get used to any other names.

I'm just wondering how many Lily's do you all know? Do you think it's too popular? I don't really want our daughter to be in a class with a few other Lily's at school.

xx

It used to be popular here (in the US) but I don't hear it much anymore with the young ones. We almost went with Lilly as a middle name if this baby is a girl, but I ultimately decided I didn't like Cora Lilly as it sounds too much like Calla lilly (a flower) lol hubby doesn't like my names and gets mad when I tell him to give me suggestions, we are going with Cora as the first name for sure but are also debating spelling and he says if I go with his spelling I can pick the middle name but whats the point of that? so I am fighting so hard not to bring it up until after our gender scan..

Anyway.. if you like Lily, I say go for it!

I live in the states and honestly I know quite a few Lily's myself over here. They are all about 4 years and over though. I say if you like it, then use it. Also you could always use Lily as a "nickname", but just call her that all the time with a legal name of like Lillian or Lilyanah that way the teacher will use her legal name in class hopefully making it different from other students, but family and friends could use Lily. I think its pretty!

My cousin called hers lily 7 years ago. My friends daughter lily is 5.my other friends daughter is 19 months called Lily. My boyfriends cousins 8 week old is Lily and i know a lad with a niece called Lily.

So i know a few. But use it if you love it :-) itl just be like chloe and sarah and louise. Lots of them around. Its not a bad thing xx

I have a co-worker named Lily. My best friend has a 3 year old daughter named Liliana. An old high school acquaintance just had a baby and named her Lily. It's seems to be a popular name currently.

From Canada, only know 1 Lily here...my niece. Not very popular in my town. It seems like you are pretty set on the name so I would use it. :flower:

We also know a lot of Lily's they are mostly older now but there will be a lg in ds's class named Lily. Most are Lily-Mae around here though. We have the same problem as we love Isabelle and always have done. Obviously this is also a very popular name but I love it so much I don't care!x

I know 3 I think, and I hardly know anyone with kids.
Xx

I too know a few Lily's but it's a lovely name :) My daughters name was 1st or 2nd popular when we had her but we loved the name so didn't really care. There is only one other Sophie in her class now so not too bad.

When I was at high school there were 3 of us called Nicola in the year and we all ended up in the same class!! It wasn't a big deal at all for us though x

I personally know one four year old Lily and seem to come across them here and there. It's a nice name, but it is fairly common.

I am in the US though. Our name trends are different.

Lily is a beautiful name! I only know one.

My name is Sarah and is quite popular....I went to school with many and have a best friend named Sara. And I loved having other Sarah's in my grade! It's an unspoken bond :)

I know 3 Lilly's. It is a lovely name.

There were a few Laura's in my year at school and it was fine. X

I have a nearly 4 year old and 1.5 year old - they have no friends called Lily, none at my daughter's preschool either. We know a Lily-Anna but that is it :flower:

My niece is a lily. Lovely name but very popular x

My daughters name is Lillian but sometimes we call her Lilly for short. We are in the US and the only other Lillian I know is my great grandmother :flower:

I live in the States and have only known 1 Lily in my life... It was short for Lillian.

My son's name was one of the top ranking and so far we haven't come across any other kids in his daycare, or any of the classes at his old Montessori school or even at his new school.

The name we picked for our little girl is Charlotte, which is popular, but my Aunt got a dog and named him Charlie... which is the nickname we were and still are going to use.

If you both like it you should use it. (BTW I only know 1 Lily and she is 6 or 7)

I've never met a "Lily" and I'm 26. I was also considering this name and I'm surprised to read it's this common, apparently.

It's funny to see how much the responses on here vary. I guess it depends on a lot of circumstances.

Personally, as a teacher, and having recently worked at a daycare 2 years ago, I have met quite a few Lilys. I feel it is gaining in popularity in the U.S. Or maybe it's just on the East Coast. But I think it's a pretty name.
