Thought on a name we love - how many Lily's do you know?

Thanks all. We had a big talk about names last night and we've decided we're going to call her Lillia - with Lily for short. We both were surprised how much we liked Lillia. We both did name lists during the day yesterday and compared last night - low and behold Lily was top on both our lists as expected. xxx

Lily is a beautiful name! I only know one.

My name is Sarah and is quite popular....I went to school with many and have a best friend named Sara. And I loved having other Sarah's in my grade! It's an unspoken bond

I was going to say something very similar. My name is Ashley and it was #1 or 2 on the popular name list for my year. At any given time I had one or two other Ashley's in class with me, and it never bothered me in the slightest. Go with the name you love because it is a beautiful name, and don't think about everyone else because ultimately it doesn't matter I promise you

I know five, all under 4 years old, and four of them are Lily Mae! I loved Lily if either of ours had been girls, but I said no way would I have Lily Mae! Lillia is a beautiful name, we were going to consider Lilliana instead of Lily and like you maybe have Lily for short. It's very popular in our area, every time I hear a mother talking to a little girl, 9 times out of 10 around here she's calling her Lily!
I was still considering using it though, despite its popularity.

lily is a lovely name, my 3 year old is called lily and she is the only one in her nursery or that i even know lol, its not as common as it used to be but i love/loved it

I am a class teacher in the UK and i can tell you that Lily is an extremely popular name. I can think of 6 that i know under the age of 7!

However, having said that, if it is the name you want, you should definitely go for it...who cares what other people call their children? All that matters is the name you have chosen to give to your own child. Go for Lily, if that is the name you love!

I love Lily, and like you worried about how popular it is/was, I also have a niece called Lilly-Mae and know a few other Lilly-something's. I watch someone on youtube who's daughter is called Lillia and I've loved it since I heard it.

We chose our girl's name really on though and as much as I love Lillia something just seems right about the one we've chosen for a baby if we have a girl. Still working on a boy's name though...
