Thoughts?

My OH and I were casually talking about baby names (we're still WTT) and he brought up this name for a boy:

Leonidas

What are your thoughts on it? I am not sure about Leonidas, but I love the nn Leo. I'm wondering what other people think of it. Is it too out there? Thanks for any thoughts/opinions ladies

I must say i'm not keen on it. I know it is a name but it sounds made up to me and also reminds me of something a roman emperor might be called along the same lines as augustus and octavius. It's not too bad though, just not my bag i'm afraid.

Thanks for your thoughts ladies I'm glad to hear that it's not too out there. I like uncommon names; I named my third child Seraphina. But I don't want anything that's going to sound too weird or unusual. So once again, thank you.

I think that's actually where my OH got the name from - Roman history. He's really into things like Greek and Roman history and also anything celestial (like the Leo constellation).

Personally, I love it, especially if you're going to use Leo as the nickname. Let it sink in, sometimes the names that we aren't sure of at first grow on us. maybe byt the time you are ready to have a baby it'll be one of your faves.

The first one (leon-eye-diss) is the correct pronunciation

Isnt one of the men from 300 named Leonidas? I like it, but I also know of dogs/horses named this so probably wouldn't use it myself.

Not keen, love Leo as a name, if your not keen on Leo as a full name what about Leonardo? Leon?

It's a brand of chocolates here so that's what it makes me think of. I don't think it goes with your other children's names. I do like Leo though.
