Thread killer........

I didn't wait - once we started on lumpy foods and finger foods at 23 weeks that was it - I just went for it lol! She was already having tiny bits of meat in some stage one jars but I gave her proper bits, eggs - everything. She just took to it like a duck to water and her milk intake was already going down so I felt she was ready to progress.

My hv said it was fine she was already on yoghurts etc from 5 months and the way I looked at it if she was going to have any dairy intolerance it would have already shown from using formula. And it was because of her milk intake that I started her on them - if she hadn't dropped we would probably have waited.

And just in case you aren't aware, at 6 months as long as they are getting 16-20oz of milk per day then that is enough - youghurts and other dairy count towards it too - so don't worry if his milk intake suddenly drops a lot xx

Thanks Anna. The Dr on Tuesday made me feel like a shit mum for even weaning on Veg and fruit at the moment and told me I should of waited till 6 months. I went onto say that the hv suggested to me to wean but he was just looking at me in disgust. I was going start with some new foods before the end of this month when he turns 6 months cus I feel he is ready to but the dr totally put me off :-( xx

What's everyone up to? Weve just got back from shops, fed r his milk and now he's napping and just waiting for him to wake so I can take him down my friends for him to have a play with his baby friend xx

I really hate it when I hear things like this. These people see you once in a blue moon and proceed to make you feel like a bad mum for doing what you know is best for your child! He hasn't any right to make you feel like that.

Just continue to listen to your gut instinct love - it's served you well so far because you have a happy, healthy and gorgeous son. Don't let idiots who don't know you or your situation put you off xx

I mean what does saying things like that achieve anyway? You have started weaning, it's too late to go back now so he should just support you as you move forward, not chastise you for the decisions you have already made and implemented. Gah why can't people just keep their sticky beaks out??

We have been to baby group and baby massage this morning - Fran held hands with her boyfriend lol.

We are staying home this afternoon, I've got a headache I'm trying to get rid of :(

Helloo :hi:
Well I have spend the last couple of days thinking of every possible way I could get a pushchair that would be suitable to go on holiday with as my one is awful. The holiday is the worst possible time and had it been 2 days later I could do it. So looks like I wont be going on holiday and I am beyond gutted because I need to get a way so bad.

we had swimming lessons this morning....

i just wanted to contribute to the convo above.
we started weaning James at 5m3w and he has been eating a wide variety of things
then we go to our pediatrician yesterday and he tells me there is an "order" to do things?

orange vegetables first
then green vegetables
hold off on fruits as long as possible
no meat

WTF? Why does it have to be this way. I've already given James banana and watermelon and he liked it.

How come you can't find a pushy in time for holiday so you can't go?

I'm fasting this lunchtime & all the talk about baby food is making my tummy rumble! I could even eat pureed sqaush!!

Ooh lol I can't afford one until just after the holiday because I spent all my money on the other pushchair and if I got another one I wouldn't have money for the holiday. There isn't time to sell anything because tickets need booking so I dunno what else to try lol.

If you want a really cheap, lightweight one just for your holiday, mothercare have 2 or 3 for just under £30! And babies r us have one for £19.99!

But if the money isn't there that is a real bummer :(

Hello all :flower:

Is there really a weaning order for different foods? have never heard this before?

we've had a lovely day, Husband is off so went shopping and am now settling in for a nice relaxing Friday night.....

Charlotte what are your plans for your 21st?

ive never heard of that before either....
thought it was weird.
i figured most fruits & veggies were fine

I went on a weaning course and we were told that ideal first foods are root vegetables such as carrot, parsnip, sweet potato etc and fruits such as apple, pear and banana that are soft or puree well when cooked. Pear is very easy for LO's tummy to digest that's why it's a good first food!

Hey hey hey :hi: my internet is well playing up stupid sky ive had to pay an effing fiver for 1 days worth of tinternet from BT :dohh:
Ive had my extensions put in :happydance: i feel like a girl lol
Im really nervous about tomorrow, i get really anxious, i dont want to leave my baby  on a plus ash looked after him whilst i had my wig done and he actually got him to sleep now this is a big deal for ash in the whole of alfies 9 months its only been me who can get him to sleep and my mum at a push lol so hes really pleased with himself (i still think hes an absoloute prick but never mind  )
whats everyone else upto..

fabby- Dont let anyone make you feel bad :hugs: In an ideal world yes everyone would follow the guidelines and wean at 6 months but not every babies the same, am i right in thinking that 6 months is going to be replaced with 4 months or have i dreamt that up lol, some are ready earlier than others  I think i tried alfie at like 5 months and he wasnt ready so left it another 3 weeks and he was but my friends little boy ethan he was ready at 18 weeks. You know your LO best hun.
