THREE sweeps and still nothing?

Popping over from 3rd Tri and I'm wondering if anyone has had as many as 3 sweeps with no progress as a result? I've been 3cm dilated and 50% effaced for four weeks now...and 3 sweeps later, not any action! the 3rd was just today so I'm still hoping, but just looking for what others have experienced. Did your sweeps work or did you still just go when the baby was ready?

I had 3 sweeps with dd, was started at 39 weeks, as I had gestational diabetes....None of my sweeps worked for me, I wasnt favourable enough for them, I was induced on my due date then 2 days after my 3rd sweep.....

I was told though the same day as having the sweeps done to have sex, the extra hormones are supposed to help with the hormones they release with the sweep.....Good luck hun, hope you have a quick labour.....

I had one at 41 weeks pregnant, midwife said i was 2cm and she was very confident i would go into labour and did not even book me in for a induction she was that confident. Well i had a bit of backache and nothing Lucie decided to come 8 days later after my sweep, the day before my induction date. I really do belive it all depend on when your Lo wants to come, i know you prob dont wnat to her this now as you will be very tired and want to meet your Lo. Other people may feel different. Hope your Lo comes soon xx

I had three sweeps...after the first two I had a lot of achy feelings constantly for hours before any actual contractions, but the third went into proper contractions quite soon afterwards. I had the sweep at 9:00 one morning and had my LO at 11:23 the next morning. However they did break my waters to get things moving as well, so not sure what would really have happened otherwise...link to the full story in my sig if you fancy a long read! Good luck

I had 3 too (37+6, 38+6 and 39+6) and they did nothing. So I was induced at 40+5 which failed and resulted in a section. Sorry!

I had 3 sweeps over a week from 41 wks. They did nothing for me and i ended up being induced.

Thanks for the feedback! Even though I was hoping to hear they are more effective, it's good to not have too much hope that it will work

I didn't have a sweep until 40+6 and my LO was here the next day.

I had 3 sweeps and 2 gel induction thingies and nothing, each time the MW told me I was ripe and ready to pop (was sick of hearing that by the end) in the end it took a heavy handed MW breaking my waters at 41+6 to convince him it was time (he did get a choice in the matter)

The exact thing happened to me! I was dialated for 2 weeks and was having pains and all Had 2 sweeps with no luck. I woke up in labour at 40+4 and had her that evening. I know it's the last thing you want to hear but she'll come when she's ready and not a minute before....stubborn little angels aren't they? I know how frustrating it is, I do, but soon you'll have her in your arms and you'll barely remember the frustration at the end. Good luck hun!!!

Three sweeps, 39w, 40w, & 41w. Didnt make any difference, had been having pains & dialating since 38 weeks but she wouldnt budge.
Waters went at 41+2 & delivered at 41+4 after a long induction due to things not moving.

Good luck honey, I know how frustrating it can be but she really will come when shes ready!
