Hi everyone, I just wondered if anyone knew if you could use throat sweets in pregnancy? I'm starting to feel really rough with a cold and my throat's really sore and scratchy. I've seen some Hall mentholyptus in the cupboard which I'm aching to have. Also, can we use lemsips and other paracetamol type drinks? Any help would be appreciated. :flower:

Yes have your lemsip and your halls... Tuck yourself in bed and get better!

I was going to ask the same thing! Will be watching with interest! Would do anything for lemsip!

I read on the lemsip website that it's not suitable for pregnant women as it has a decongestive in it! But it should say on the packet too so just have a look to make sure.

asked both pharmacist and a doctor this today, they both said ur best to avoid the lemsip (not sure bout throat sweets) and are actually far better havin half unit whisky with boiling water lemon and honey, lemsips arent recommended in pregnancy but can be taken as last resort xxx

OPPPS! I used them.... I felt like rubbish and had nothing else in the cupboard.... Made me feel better though....

I was told that throat sweets like Halls are fine. Just don't take the really strong ones with antiseptic ie Strepsils. Get well soon! X

Hi there, Halls are fine, lemsip is not. Your in 2nd tri so dont worry about the one lemsip. From now on Just take plain paracetamol, warm water with honey and lemon, a little steam inhalation, Saline nasal drops, plenty of fluids, and oj for vitamin c. get well soon!

ohhhh a few weeks ago i had a really bad throat and went to the chemist and they gave me strepsils. oh dear :(

I had a full pack of Soothers at work because they tasted so nice :) plus made my throat feel better to :) x

Im the same emilyrose.... i ate a full packet of soothers last week too as my throat was so sore :(

Thanks ladies. I'm feeling even crappier today so I'm definitely on the halls! I'm downing the OJ but might try the honey and lemon thing if I get desperate. Also, I have my flu jab on Thursday. Does anyone know if you can still have this if you're already feeling rubbish?

yeah flu jabs fine as its an inactive injection so there is no live form of the virus in there. i had the honey and lemon with just a spoonful of whisky last nite, gotta say it really helped. xx
