Less than 6 month ago i got thrush, it was on a weekend so i couldnt get in the doctors, i used some nappy rash cream as a emergency soother, it actually worked & by monday it was gone, i tried to get an appointment but there wasnt any, baring in mind i was calling from the second they opened.. so that was that, a little while after my discharge was funny, thrush like, again i couldnt get a drs app so i went to the chemist & got a patissery (sp?) i didnt need the cream as it wasnt itchy just had the infection, ive had thrush that often that i know when i have it 7 i know how to deal with it.. so i used the patissery and it went, now less than 6 month later it has returned, its not as itchy as ive suffered before but its defo annying, i have horrid discharge with a thrushy smell.. so as guessed, no appointments left at the Drs, no Dr will speak to me so i have no idea what to do, the pharmacist told me last time if you have it more than once in any 6m period you have to see a Dr, but what happens when you cant get a app? i dont think i can wait till tomorrow its really annoying me!!

I'm so sorry hun- what a pain! Literally.

Would the pharmacist be able to recommend something till you can see your doctor? I'd make an appt for sure (can you get an appt further out even?)- I'd keep it if the symtoms go away still- just in case. Since I've never had thrush, I don't know, but could it be a yeast infection? Not sure the difference- but that, I've had- and the symtoms sound very similar? They sell over the counter meds for that. IDK- might be worth trying! Least till you can see the doc. I would think there are creams for it too that could help as the symptoms are similar.

Sorry no great input- best of luck! :hugs:

i asked the chemist but there wass nothing they could do as i already had something in Nov, i need to go to docs to be checked out, so i went to the docs yesterday and she didnt swab me or anything just gave me the pessary (vaginal tablet) and cream.
before i could get a app i used some cream M was given for nappy rash, my mum was given it before for thrush, i know you shouldnt use anything unless you have been told to, but i dont care ill use anything. so now i have the cream to use till it goes and if it comes back i have to make an app with the nurse to see if its a underlying problem, could be bacterial vagenosis or whatever its called haha i think i just made that up :s x

Do you guys not have over the counter yeast infection treatment? Over here, you can get multiple kinds, ranging from 1 day treatment to 7 day treatment. They are creams that you insert into the vagina to treat it, kind of similar applicator to a tampon.

Just using your son's cream on the outside won't actually treat it enough to get rid of it, as the actual infection will be inside the vagina. the symptoms just tend to show up as itching on the outside and discharge. That's why you really need to have either the vaginal tablets or the creams that you insert.

Also, when you went to the dr, did they examine down there at all? This will sound kind of gross, but you can actually tell the difference between bacterial vaginosis and yeast vaginosis by smell. I do vaginosis testing as part of my job, and can always tell if a patient is going to be positive for an infection as soon as I open the swab vial and the smell comes out. They have very specific smells, so your dr may have been able to tell just by that if she examined you. If she didn't examine you, I'd insist on that next time, because otherwise, how the heck would she know which treatment you actually need? It could be bacterial for all she knows.

ill tell you how it all went from the begining;

November: i had bad discharge how it is usually with trush (ive had it loads of times) so i went to the pharmacy & asked for the pessary (the tablet your talking about) and no cream as it wasnt itchy.
the discharge stopped and all was fine, then last week i started to have the discharge again, it was saturday night so too late to do anything about it, sunday the itching started, monday i called the Dr, no appointments so i went to the pharmacy again and asked for some thrush treatment but they told me they couldnt give me it as i have had it before in the last 6 months, so i called the Drs the next day and made a app, when i saw the Dr she asked a few questions, e.g, if im at risk of a S.T.D if im pregnant, if ive had it before etc. i explained i have had thrush more times than can count on my hand, a good few years back i had to go to a walk in clinic bcos my bits were really swollen, he asked questions and had a look and i was told that my body doesnt flush out bad bacteria like it should therefore causing reucurring thrush. so the Dr then said that she will give me cream & pessary, if/when it comes back i need to make an app to see the nurse for a swab to see if there is a underlying problem, the Dr for whatever reason cant do the swab/examine, (maybe bcos a male student was present?)
so yeah i used the pessary & cream and its gone now so time will tell

This doesn't exactly make much sense to me...Thrush is caused by a yeast, not a bacteria. If she thinks your body is out of balance with bad bacteria, she should have treated for bacterial vaginosis. Should also add that its also common to have both infections at the same time, so keep that in mind too. Hopefully it won't come back though!

the part you just highlighted was like 5 years ago, he defo said my body doesnt flush out bad bacteria when i discharge & have a period :s he treated me for thrush if i remember correctly i had the pessary & a cream then too, i hope it doesnt come back in a rish but i wont hold my breath, it more than likely will make a return

Oops I missed the part that said that was few years ago, my bad
