Ugh! I'm so uncomfortable :-(

It's too late to get in at the Dr's before Monday, can I just get some canesten cream or something?

Hey I actually just got over it, it was horrible. My second one in three years, I hate it.

I'm on antibiotics and my doctor said if I developed a yeast infection to take canestan tablets, she said the ones that you insert vaginally are safe for pregnancy, the ones you take orally are considered "Class C use with caution" while pregnant as they don't know the affects on pregnant women.

Also this is going to sound super weird but it's what I did to get over my last one, and it is considered safe while pregnant. It REALLY helped. You take a clove of garlic (peeled obviously) and insert it in your vagina at night and leave it in overnight. Some websites say to just pop it in but I wasn't comfortable with that so I wrapped it in gauze and then tied a tampon string (unflavoured floss would work as well) around it and inserted it. Then I had a way to easily remove it. Honestly it relieved the itching IMMENSELY within an hour, and it also works to cure the infection as garlic is considered an extremely effective antifungal. I was amazed. I also read about inserting plain yogurt and also using it as an external cream, but at the time I only had garlic available.

Another thing I did overnight (because that's when the discomfort was the worst for me) was wrap an icepack in a towel and put it between my legs. The cold kind of numbs you and relieves the itching, at least enough to fall asleep.

Hope this helps!

I've been suffering with it terribly! My midwife said to just keep using the canesten pessaries and cream. I should have shares in canesten at the rate I have to keep buying it 😭

A few drops of teatree oil in the bath :) eat (and use topically) live yoghurt (must be live), also the canisten pessaries are safe during pregnancy :)

I was prescribed the cream and pessaries as the oral tablets are out of bounds.

I didn't have any symptoms, it was picked up during a swab but seemed to do the job.

Why not ring the out of hours doctor? For something like this they'd likely write a prescription without seeing you, you'd just have to collect it.

I had thrush lots of times in my last pregnancy, I just used the Canesten combi pack, the one with the pessary and the external cream.
Make sure your partner uses a cream aswell if you're having unprotected sex..... cause he can have it aswell, and they can have it without any symptoms too!! Ofcourse if you're not having sex it's not really a problem unless he has symptoms....

I think you're not supposed to use the oral tablets, from what I was told.... As mentioned before it's not ethical to test any type of medicine on pregnant women so they can't say it's safe..... Guessing pessaries and cream have been used enough by pregnant women without any side effects to class it as safe....

Good luck!!

In my first pregnancy I experienced this and was prescribed canesten cream and pessary.
I didn't even have symptoms from what I remember but it was found in my urine.

Hopefully it clears up for you soon x
