I have seen lots of sweeeeeet dresses for newborn baby girls that come as an outfit with tights.

Are tights really impractical for newborn babies - are they tough to get on and off? Doesn't seem to be a great idea to me.:shrug:

Not that I have any experience, but I imagine tights would make diaper changes a real pain!

Theyre not too bad I found them pretty easy tbh my oh however would argue the opposite. If you just scrunch them up in your hands as though your putting on a sock then extend them up the leg and lift under the bum theyre ok :) no more fiddly than little leggins etc. And they stay on too, I found my little girl kicked socks off it was a nightmare xx

Speaking from experience.. No, their no different to trousers.

If anything the outfits themselves are more pointless because they get changed so often! I wouldn't bother with dresses for newborns but that's just me :)

I find them surprisingly easy to get on and off....the trouble I had was finding ones small enough, the 0-3month size can be really baggy, and still are now my littlun is 6 weeks old.
X

I don't know. I have got a pair of tights for my LO, but only because we've been invited to a wedding 3 weeks after she's due and I couldn't resist a beautiful dress I saw in the Debenham's sale!

Otherwise, I won't be bothering. You could always put a pair of trousers under a dress though too... easier maybe?

We used to put my LO in tight quite a lot. I agree with the point about them being baggy. Non of the type that came with the outfits fitted, all too big. So I eventually found tiny baby, or newborn plain cream ones and they went with everything.

Tights are fine and I would deffo reccomend getting them from gap - they fit newborns well and have cute things on the bum like ruffles or teddy bears :)

I have loads of tights n lil dresses for our lil girl, my friend who has a 2year old girl now said she was always putting tights n leggings on her LO when she was a baby as they were just as practical as jeans n trousers, u dont need to take tights all the way off just down to their ankles and cchange their bums as normal. im sooo lookin forward to trying out her dresses tights n lil matching shoes n boots hehe x

My newborn niece hates them because they're too tight. She is only happy in sleepers.

I dont like tights either, so it figures a baby wouldnt!

I think I shall reserve tights for when my little girl a bit older (at least 3m) and then, only for special occasions. Leggings seem like a more comfy alternative for every day under dresses.

My son was born in September and has wore tights pretty much from birth... they're not any more hassle, but I would recommend the H&M tights, they seem to fit the baby rather than them look all baggy  xx

Must add though he didnt wear them with pretty dresses
