Sorry, ladies.

I've been having diarrhea all day (four times so far), and my husband had a 24-hour bug last week. I'm nervous - what can I do? Will everything be okay? Should I call my Midwife at some point?

Keep yourself well hydrated. Ring the midwife if you're concerned - mummy intuition is not to be underestimated. Hope you feel better soon.

When I was on honeymoon I conceived my baby, but I also came back with Cholera and had severe diarhhea for 2 weeks. When I got my BFP I was so worried the diarrhea would affect the baby as I'd lost so much weight but my doctor and midwife assured me that it would be fine aslong as I kept as hydrated as possible. I got blackcurrant hydration sachets to be sure. 15 weeks later, everything is fine.

I have IBS and most of my meals end up with my on the loo with diarrhea, it seems to be a part of my life. The only worry I have is whether I am getting proper nutrients. I take extra vitamins to be sure.

I think a 24 hour bug shouldn't be anything to worry about as long as you take prenatal vitamins and drink lots. If you are really worried though, phone your epas or midwife just to be sure :)

Make sure you are staying hydrated and replacing electrolytes. I'm not sure if it's available where you live but pedialyte is good and tastes good :) Also keep an eye on the clour/consistency of the stool and watch for blood, if the stool is green, beige, or tarry black call your doctor to do some tests, otherwise ++ fluids and the BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast... also good for nausea :) ) Hope that helps.
