Both my kids have long names which everyone shortens.

Madison is Madi and Zachary is Zach... durr.

Question is, i think i would quite like to change how the informal names are spelt... but after 3 years (nearly) of everyone writing cards and stuff M-a-d-i, is it too late to do it.

I really like Maddy & Zac

It's only a nick name, so you can do whatever you want imo!

Just change the spelling when you write cards from them etc and people will catch on.

I would just start writing them as you want them as a pp said they are only nick names. You will find people will spell them however they want anyway in cards and stuff. I've had my name spelt a million different ways all my life by friends and family. Along as you teach them how to spell it when it comes to it the way you want I suppose that's what matters.

Nicknames change sprlliings all the time & I remember friends called Katherine & victoria changing their nicknames/spellings of nicknames every other week in school!
