Ladies - I am 40 and found out at the end of July that I was pregnant for the first time, I sadly lost the baby just one week later on the 5th August, this though made me realise that I do want to be a mum despite all the information telling me that getting pregnant & carrying a baby to term at 40+ is hard. Reading all of your stories gives me hope though, we are currently ttc again but I am trying not to go down the opk route just yet, we are just trying to enjoy the time, I don't know how long it took me to get pregnant this first time as I had problems a few years ago with periods etc and at one point they decided I was probably peri-menopausal (turns out I am not as I had a blood test at the beginning of July which showed my hormone levels are normal), I do know I was still taking contraception at the end of last year & I think it was December/January when I stopped taking it so I know it didn't take me too long to conceive so I am hoping that this time will be the same, I would love to have a July/August baby next year. I love reading all your stories, they have inspired me, given me confidence & lifted my mood more than you can probably imagine. So thank you & I hope I will be able to join you all here very soon.

Good luck with all your pregnancies - I am now going to become a thread stalker!! LOL

Good luck and all the best! :hugs: and :dust:

Sorry to hear about your loss and good luck in TTC.

Sometimes, sadly, I think we have to work through several miscarriages. I had 3 in a row over a 2 year period. Some over 40's TTC call it "chasing the golden egg."

Just keep at it.

HI zofranks,

I too am also 40, I had my 2nd miscarriage on the 6th August......we have been ttc for 3 years although my oh is in the forces so not always at home as he spent 2.5 years of that posted abroad.

He went away again this morning and I just feel empty......no oh and no baby!

I can't believe that you can go through so many different emotions at the one time...sad, angry, frustrated etc etc.

I do hope you get a sticky bean soon and I'm so sorry for your loss. xx

so sorry for your loss, and to oorweeistyin :hugs: :hugs: Just wanted to say really that I had a miscarriage when I was 23 but this pregnancy, when I was 40, has gone well - a mc doesn't necessarily mean that you will have problems with the next pregnancy, or that it was even due to being over 40...hang in there, it took us a year of actively trying but she did come in her own time xxx

Thank you maybethisisit & congratulations on your little girl - she looks so sweet.
