My LO has been a difficult kid since birth. High needs, CMPI, silent reflux, spirited, passionate, etc. Just in the last few weeks, I have found myself in the midst of a relatively easy and pleasant phase and I'm wondering if this means we're through the worst of it or if I should be shoring up for some terrible phases ahead (I'm kind of expecting this is the case). She's 20 months old.

She used to fight us on so many things: diaper changes, getting out of the tub, brushing teeth, getting in her chair for dinner, the car seat, etc. and now all that has stopped and she is super compliant and even helpful in a lot of ways. She's still clingy a lot of times and doesn't like to wait for things, but I can't complain. She hasn't had a major tantrum since November. Her improved behavior has coincided with acquisition of speech. She is saying thousands of words and putting together sentences of about five words. She's gotten very good at getting her point across.

Did anyone have a similar experience with their toddler and did the good behavior last? Oh, I hope so!

My LO also got easier from around 18 months as his speech developed. But then the terrible twos hit. Haha, it's not that bad but he does have some epic tantrums.

I have no educated experience, but I think perhaps the acquisition of speech and therefore the increased ability to express herself may have led to a marked decrease of frustration on the part of your little girl. No doubt there will still be bumpy times, but you may have more idea of where the bumps lie now xxxx
