Toddler penis question...sorry if TMI

My 3 year old's isn't retractable yet. Also my 1 year old's bits are different to his (looser foreskin) but both are normal :)

Don't touch it!! It's fine! I know in the states they're all about circumcision, but honestly, unless it's causing pain, or he's getting infections due to being unable to get it properly clean in the bath (by that I mean that just the exposure to the hot water and a bit of a wipe around should be enough), then there's no need to worry about it.

Your LO will pull everything back in his own time, and when he does then is the time to talk to him about hygiene etc and also about whether or not it hurts to do it.

... Here in the U.S., doctors will jump on any opportunity to circumcize and my DH and I are very against it.

I wouldn't go that far, why would doctors do that? In my experience we weren't even asked if we wanted a circumcision. I think around here it's something you have to ask for, it's not offered.

Honestly, I don't think you're supposed to be trying to retract it at all. Just clean it and let it be.

I have some pics, if you could email me [email protected] I can reply and attach them. I can't PM on my phone. They are just cellphone ones and a bit yellow for some reason, but they show the area well enough.
I know what you choose to share off the forum is none of my business but I really would advise against sending these pictures to strangers.

x

Could you Google for medical photos of what you are concerned about instead OP if you want reassurance?

I'm with the majority my boy is the same age as yours and it hasn't entered my head to try and pull it back. It's kept clean and doesn't bother him so will be left well alone.

I can only imagine US Docs want to do it because they either believe it to best for hygine / social reasons or the cynic in me says US Docs are business men looking for buisness.

Minties I know everybody is very social and trusting on here but I hope you've taken the advice of Wombles. It's not fair on your son to have such photos given to a complete stranger. Nor would I be posting my complete email address on a public forum either.

They usually worry about malpractice so I think most rather be safe than sorry. That is, if they seen them and parents wonder why they didn't do enough.

My son will be 3 in a few weeks and he has only recently started to pull it back a tiny bit. It sounds completely normal Hun, don't worry about it unless they are hurting x
