Ok, so LO is 4 weeks old now. Shes been on formula for around 3 weeks. I started her off on 3oz, 6 feeds a day and around a week later I moved her up to 4oz as she was draining the bottles dry and wasn't settling very well. Now, Ive dropped her 11pm feed as she was only taking about half an oz as she was basically fast asleep. Because she had gone from 6 to 5 feeds a day I then made the bottles up to 5oz. Now however shes draining every 5oz bottle during the day, but 6oz bottles just seems like too much to be giving to a 4 week old!

I got her weighed on tuesday and she was 7lb 13oz, and Im really pleased with her weight gain. I just wasn't sure if she'd just keep drinking even if she didnt need it if I offered her the 6oz bottle? Anyone else seem to have got themselves a greedy little monkey!

i havnt got a greedy monkey lol my 3month old is on 5 6oz bottles a day and he doesnt usually finish them!(he has never been a big eater) but i dont think babys drink more than they need. If they do they spit it back up. To my knowledge. Sounds like your Lo is doing great xxx

how much did she weigh when she was born? well my little one is 3 months in a few days and she drains 7-8oz bottles... in all she has near on 40 oz a day (and shes on hungry baby milk.. stage 2..) so i've decided to try her on baby rice and rusks mixed with milk.. little bits once or twice a day... and she eats all them aswell!!! so i wouldn't worry,, all babies are different =]
see my lo was 9lbs 12 and 1/2 oz at birth and when she was 2 months old she weighed 14lbs 6oz... but hv wasnt worried because she was gaining weight steadily :)

Freddie is a guzzler. He is 9 weeks today, was born 4 weeks early at 5lb 10. He is now 11lb! He takes 6oz bottles and drains them every time....albeit the last oz is SLOW going. He is on near enough 36oz a day, but he demands it, im not going to starve him just because the box says he should be on 5 feeds. I have tried hungry baby, it didnt make an oz of difference....just gave him a dodgy tummy ;-)

Dont worry, what LO doesnt need they will throw up

Dont worry - just let LO take what they want.

My Anna was never a big feeder. The most she has ever taken in a day is about 27oz - most amount at the one time 5/6oz max - but thats all she needs - her weight is exactly what it should be. If LO takes it he must be hungry for it:flower:

As the others have said, your LO wont drink unless they are hungry or they will just spit it up again. So as long as shes happy on that amount I wouldnt worry about overfeeding :)

xx

All babies are different... my daughter is 11 mths and only weighs 16lb.. shes in 3-6 months clothes and on 5oz bottles... haha!!

Babies will have what they want I guess!

She was 6lb 12oz when she was born. Shes growing quickly! :D I think Ill just offer her the extra oz from tomorrow (shes being very fussy today and got herself overtired so is falling asleep during feeds).

I figure it was probably best just going by what she wants, but I just cant help myself and look at the guide lines on the box then think 'oh my! I have a greedy little moose' lol x

Jayden is 2 weeks 3 days and crys when his 4oz bottles are empty, so having to make 5oz's now xx
