Hi ladies

My little girl is only 7 weeks old but is taking 5-6 oz on each feed every 3-4 hours. I'm really worried this is toO much for her little tummy. But am I right in thinking if she didn't need it should throw it back up? I'm worried that it's going to make her obese? She was only 5.15 at birth (born at 37weeks)

She literally feeds, sleeps, wakes up to feed, sleeps. Etc etc. is she sleeping too much?

Thanks in advance for any responses. She is on neocate for a milk allergy aswell (not sure if this makes any difference)

:hugs:

I think she is fine. She'll stop when she's full, or like you said throw it up. My LO has been eating 6 oz every 2 hours since she was 8 weeks. She sleeps 10-11 hours each night, so she's not eating during that time...

Totally normal at that age hun :) She's probably growing a lot really fast and newborns spit up anything they don't have room for in their tummies! If you were overfeeding her you'd know about it! My LO was taking 6 oz every 2-3 hours at that age. He really needed all that food. He's an active baby and really long! But always been on the leaner side in spite of eating loads.

I wouldn't worry about eating to much, Babies will only eat what they need so right now she needs that much!

with sleep at this age it is pretty much all they do on a 3-4 hour cycle! You don't get much awake time just yet! It will come though.

Thanks ladies. Had her weighed again today 7+3 and she is 9lbs7oz! HV also said not to worry give her what she wants.

Thanks again :hugs:

i wouldn't worry, just go by your baby as your guide, i have learnt not to keep comparing dom to other babies,he wants what he wants....although your 7 year old drinks more/the same as dom at 21 weeks! LOL, dom is still only on 4/5oz feeds... :flower:

I echo the others and say that's fine! I really do think babies regulate themselves, so no need to worry about obesity.

My LO had her two month checkup yesterday. She has mostly expressed breast milk, but does take formula as well. The pediatrician noted she should eat 4-6 ounces every 3-4 hours. She still only eats 2-4 ounces every 2-3 hours... wish she'd space it out a bit, but they do what they want, don't they?!
