Tooth abscess?

I have been dealing with migraines and TMJ pain and now that I've cleared those pains I'm thinking it's a tooth abscess in a tooth that I know needs to be extracted... Has anyone done this while pregnant? My dentist says it's safer to do the procedure than to expose baby to the infection..but still nervous.
