I want to play with some new toys with my boy to encourage his development. He has a bouncy chair with a toy bar and gym with hanging toys but I want to buy some rattles, something to kick and other varieties but don't have a huge budget. Any online recommendations please?

my lo fav toy is the caterpillar from elc.
https://www.elc.co.uk/Activity-Caterpillar/110095,default,pd.html
it attaches to pram or car seat, it as a squeeky nose, a bell and crunchy feet my lo is nearly 4 months and he still loves this. and it doesnt break the bank.

That's great thank you :)

My little girl is loving Freddie the Firefly!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Learning-C...Q0F4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1316533959&sr=8-1

This toy has loads of different colours and noises and textures, plus it has a clip to attach to the pram or basket. He jingles when you shake him, too. :baby:

^^ My lo has the peacock version, it amazes me how it amazes him, it hangs over his bouncy chair cos the toys that came on that are very neutral and obviously boring to him but his peacock..well he sits there hitting it, knocking it around, he stares at it, he brings it to his mouth and chews it, this can go on for a good 20 mins! The simple things eh! Note to op: look for things with black, white and red.. lo love the contrasting colours as their sight still isnt the best at that age x

Thank you, we have this :D It was brought for him and I love it! He isn't interested in it yet but hoping he will be.

The black and white is one of the many reasons I like Freddie. I wish he would play like your LO does, but alas he is so far lazy like my first son. He was about 3 months before he could be bothered to reach out to his toys :haha:

Their fave toy is you remember, your face ur voice, singing to them etc.

But anything colourful at 2 months they will love :)

I'm always singing, pulling silly faces, talking nonsense, playing with his hands and feet, telling him his body parts, counting digits....but there's only so much of me he can take :haha:

not sure of your budget... but this rattle toy is one of the first ones my little guy could grab.
https://www.amazon.com/Rhino-Toys-O...XW26/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1316537242&sr=8-1
as he got better with it, he got frustrated with it for about a month, now he loves it again.

have you checked out the Vulli toys like Sophie the Giraffe? They are so light-weight and easy to hold!

My LO didn't really play with toys much until 3.5-4 months... now its all about the toys!

Ooh that looks good, something a little different. I want a little collection to rotate so we don't get bored of them.
My first was about the same age as yours :)

not sure if this is still available, but it is very different and currently the favorite toy... there are so many textures, its really easy to hold (though we didn't bother trying it until recently when he got better control over his hands).

He loves shoving the top edge of the wooden 'trunk' in his mouth... he loves chewing on the knots on the bottom end - great teething toy for that.
He flips it around, chews on the hard leaves, the soft leaves, the chicken beak, the chicken tail, etc... just really so much for him to explore with it.

Oh.. and get a mirror for him! (the safe baby ones)... that is HOURS of entertainment in and of itself!! :)

and start reading books if you haven't already... my LO was fascinated with the colorful pictures from an early age (probably 2 months is when he really started to notice).

And nothing beats a burp cloth for an easy toy! :) ... great at catching the drool too :haha:

Reading that before seeing the toy made me wonder what on earth it was going to be! :haha: Another great suggestion thank you. My first son had more basic toys as I didn't have the internet to discover good ones like those.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. Some I will buy now, others will be added to his Christmas list :)

Oliver has only shown an interest in 3 toys so far

https://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplay0_10751_-1_9541_10001

and

and he has the Fisher Price Rainforest playmat and he will swing at the hanging soft monkey on that til it falls down.

The clip toys above though he loves, I clip them to the pram, his swing, his playmat and dangle them in front of him.

Rainmakers are also good.

They look great thank you. There are now so many I want to get him we wouldn't have time to play with them all! :D

Arianna's fav toy now is this teddy bear that says her name and barks and sings songs she amzed by hum lol! leap frog makes it

Thank you, I'll take a look at their range :)
