Hi,
I've had type 2 diabetes for 3 years now. Over 1 and half years ago my dh and i have been TTC. March 08 i got pregnant then in May 08 i had a MMC. In July and Sept 08 i had a futher 2 MC's. Doctors thought this may have been due to uncontrolled diabetes but test proved this wasn't. Has anyone else been TTC who have had the same problem. I'd quite like to know what doctors have done and are doing to help you. Also has any of you guys had a successful pregnancy with type 2 diabetes.

I do not have diabetes but I also have been TTC for 18 months now and we have had 3 mc's in 9 months. My due date with the first one was yesterday. I have gone through 2 different doctors and on to my 3rd Nov. 24 so hopefully then I will have some more answers. Good luck with you and keep me posted. I am so sorry for your losses.

 I have also suffered losses. Aug & Dec 2007, and Oct 2008. I have wondered if it was diabetes for me, as I had insulin-dependant gestational diabetes, which means I am at greater risk for diabetes later in life. When I TTC again, I going to put myself on a diabetic diet, just to be sure my sugars are OK.

Hi Tina
Sorry for your losses, havent the doctors referred you to the hospital? It might be an idea to talk to them about it.

I dnt have diabetes but not being able to hold onto a pregnancy is very common as you know. It could be low progesterone, or you need to take baby aspirin, or maybe a genetic problem. You really need investigations, so you can be sure of what it is.
Get some advice, because, with diabetes you should be carefully watched through a pregnancy anyhow

lots of luck

i know there could be lots of reasons why i havent been able to hold down a pregnancy. My doctors seem to think its because of me being diabetic. With my first mmc i was being closely observed by the hospital because of my diabetes. Each week i had to see them 2 or 3 times, they also put me on insulin at that time. After my 3rd mc they reffered me to the diabetic clinic to see the consultant who specialises in pregnancyand diabetees which im still waiting for an appointment.

Im just desperately trying to seek answers.

Yes, I have am seeing a specialist and I have had some testing, including a GTT, which I believe (never go the results) is normal. I had an HSG which was normal, and I do have low progesterone so I am on Clomid and Prometrium. But, to be sure, I am going to go on a diabetic diet.

I just thought i would pop over and tell you guys how i have been controling my type 1 diabetes, i also do understand that my body is still producining sme insulin so would vary person to person il start with facts but my doctor said type 2 would benifit from it to as one day mine will stop working and this wont help
Just find out im type 1 in feb 2012 put into hospital with bloods running at 40.5
within few weeks had bloods below 10 they were hoping it would take couple of months but major as lows very up and down all the time very frustrated, with ttc would panic if they went up past 8.2
My insulin was 30 units of 24 hr cover, and quick acting 12 units with meals, 2 to 4 units if i had snacks
Now in last week i have been doing half hour running well slow jog morning and night
My food has been no carbs if i wanted to add them i would and just have few units but i would rather just avoid it
Lots of protein and vegies i dont limit myself on the sauces cheese sauce sweet onion you name it makes vegies more barable i jump up to 9 max
If my blood is 5 i have fruit for desert i did have chocolate bar but spiked to 13 however within 20 mins had droped to 7
In last two days i have no insuilin what so ever and worst i have had was the choc bar incidant which wasnt to bad and best bit no lows i did see 5 on meter before run lst night and took sugar (usually id be 1.4 when got back to car after )and thought duh i didnt need it as dont have 24 hr in system
Also my ketones went from 0.01 to 0.2 in last week so dont think that would be worth worrying about
just thought this might help some people out there and more tpye 2 than 1

as long as your sugars are well controlled diabetes should not be the issue. My doctor and dietitian want me to aim for a 5.3 or lower before meals and no higher than 7.8 after meals before I get pregnant. Diabetes will mess with hormones for sure. I do have low progesterone which causes me not to ovulate but then my sugars aren't quite where I need them to be yet either. Once that is under control I will start taking clomid. The doc will keep me on metformin for the first few months of pregnancy too to help keep hormones under control.
