Hello,
I had a m/c in March, and just got my cycle back the end of April. We're trying again, and I just started charting (see attached picture). My temps are crazy, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. It also doesn't help that I work overnight shifts as an RN, so half the time I wake up at 6am and half the time I wake up at 5pm.

Up there is my chart for this cycle.

Also, I have a question about OPKs. I had two positive OPKs on June 10 & June 11 (CD 13 & CD 14). The two after that were negative. I took another just now, and it's also positive! (CD 17). What exactly does this mean?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Sophie, not sure I can help re your temping issue as I wouldn't know what to do if you work shifts. But in terms of two positive OV tests as far as I understand it you can have an LH surge without actually ovulating. It sounds as tho this may be what happened to you (on day 13) and for whatever reason you didn't actually ovulate so your body is trying again now (day 17). This is where temping is really important to confirm ovulation but I realise this is a problem for you because of your job. It may be worth you reading the FAQs on the Fertility Friend site as they might give advice on charting and shift work. Hope this helps! :)

Opks are really good for confirming ovulation and knowing it's coming, the only way to really know for sure is confirming with a .4 degree or higher temperature shift. How long have you been ttc? Waking up at 5 or 6am is fine so long as the temp is taken after at least 3 hours of sleep. The more consistent you are the more accurate your data will be. As for your chat this month, keep temping, the positive opk and the dip in your temperature are all great signs that ovulation is around the corner. I would DTD as much as possible these next 5 days! If you have a link to previous charts I would love to look at them. Are you taking opks with first morning urine or through the day at random times?
