Trying out breast pump?

I have taken the plunge and ordered a Medela Swing Electric Pump thus committing myself to trying as hard as possible to bf!!

My question is can I 'have a go' with it when it arrives? (I am just keen to know what it feels like!!) or will this start me off leaking (I haven't as yet)?

I wouldnt start just yet hun but after 37 wks you can have a play. Nipple stimulation is said to be able to induce labour as it stimuates oxitocin which is the 'labour hormone'.

But do have a play hun! Dont expect to get anything but I'd worth a mess about I think. I have the same on and I love it. You should have it on as high as you can until it's almost unbearable and then reduce it buy one setting IYKWIM. You will freak when you see how far it take your nip!! That's quite normal tho

It is really funny to see it working actually, my DHs eyes went like saucers the first time he saw it!

i tried mine in 3rd tri made my tummy go really hard, so i stoped lol

I wash pumping like a mad woman in my last 2 weeks trying to trigger labour!

My pump has arrived now but I have contented myself with just reading the booklets, there was a really good one on breastfeeding - loads of useful info! One thing that does worry me is that it says you might need a different size of cup for it depending on your nipple size - has anyone found that?
