Hi I'm new to this so please bear with me

Me & my partner have been TTC for around 14 months now and after going to the doctors and other half sending off a sample of the little fella's to be tested it came back that he has very low motility, We was told we would be referred to a specialist but as i already have a child from a previous relationship that we would not qualify for NHS treatment and would have to go private and pay the £2500.

personally i don't think think this is right, yes I do have a child from a previous relationship but my partner doesn't have any children.

Am i wrong to say that i think its selfish of the NHS to say that they won't treat us because i already have a child when the "problem" does not stand with me but my partner??

has anybody out there been in a situation like us? if so we would love your input on things.

Thanks for reading:hugs:

I don't have any experience of this myself as we are going private for ivf for #2 having conceived #1 naturally. However I have always thought it to be sexist that the test that the NHS use is whether the woman already has another child, what about men who want the chance to conceive a child that is biologically their own. Maybe write to your MEP! X

I completely agree with you. Although I'm not exactly in the same boat, as I am trying to conceive with the same partner, I think everyone should be entitled to one round of IVF treatment. I know quite a few couples who had trouble TTC #1 and had IVF then have had #2 or 3 naturally with no problems at all. I think it's so unfair that having 1 child means you don't get the option (unless you pay), especially when you've been TTC for a number of years.

MichelleanLee Hello Hun, This Is Wrong, I Can Tell You This Because Me and My Fiance Have Been TTC Our Second Child Together For Over 3 Year's Know, They Tryed To Reffer Me To A Fertility Specialist But The Declined Us Because Of Having One Child Together Already, Although I Am Now Getting Help Due To Being Dianosed With PCOS. It Dont Matter That You Have A Child With Him, OR Someone Else Your Entitled To NHS Treatment, But That Dont Include IVF Unless You Have A Diagnosis & Still Cant Conceive After So Long. You Should Go See A Different Doctor & If They Say The Same Change Doctor's & Try Again, If That Dont Work Contact Your Local PCT (Primary Care Trust) For Advice If That Dont Work Make A Complaint To Your Local PCT I Did And They Contacted My Doctor, Dont Ever Give Up, They Dont Mind Paying To Abort Baby's Several Times For One Women, So Why Cant They Help The Good Women Conceive Childen Several Time's, Right, It Took Me 3 Year's To Get My Doctor To Help Me And Only Got Diagnosed With PCOS Last Month, Sad Really, But As For Your Partner They Should Still Help Him But Beware, My Fiance Got Told He Had A Touch Low Mobility & Count But When I Got Declined To See A Fertility Specialist They Then Told Me It Was Extremely Low And That The Problem Wasnt Me, But They Still Was Willing To Help My Fiance With His Sperm Problem's Although We Know Know That Doctor Was Lieing & His Sperm Is Fine. Just Be Careful, Write Notes At every App With Any Doctor. They Dont Care For Us. Although They Wont Pay For IVF If A Man Has A Low Sperm Count Or Mobility, But They Should Offer Him Clomid, Yes Men Can Take It To Help Them. Also Little Tip Zestica Gel Can Help Sperm Mobility. Keep Your Chin Up Hun, Stay Strong. x X x

P.s Apply For These Freebie's, They Will Also Help With TTC.
