Trying to decide when to wean, but I feel guilty

My son is 8 months old and I was hoping to TTC again this month, but I am one of the lucky ones and haven't gotten AF back. I am struggling with the decision to wean him and give him formula so AF will show. But I feel selfish about this.
The only problem is that DH and I are both older and if we are going to have a second baby we really should do it soon.
Opinions please.....wean or wait until 1 and change to milk instead of formula?

Do you still feed at night? Sometimes night weaning can bring back your cycle. If that doesn't work and you want to start ttc now, I would switch to formula. I have no problem with formula though, I know some people don't like it. You just have to square it with yourself why you think stopping bf to ttc is selfish so you won't feel guilty afterward.

PS: you might want to ask the moderators to move this thread to the bf forum, there's more traffic there and it's more relevant to what you're asking.

I agree that you need to decide what matters more. Whilst bm is scientifically more nutritous, formula isnt the end of the world. You have given your lo a great start and wanting to ttc isnt selfish at all. Having a sibling will be great for your lo.

Thank you both, yes we feed very frequently at night and co sleep.
I'm torn because yes BM is best, I feel like I'm taking that away from him. I'm thinking of starting to formula feed during the day and allow him to BF morning and night, but I'm not sure if that will be enough to bring on AF anyways.

Night weaning is probably more effective, but I understand why you want to leave that last, the prospect of the drama if I take his boobies away at night scares the crap out of me.
