TTC #1 after D&C

Hey everyone!

I became pregnant for the first time back in April after coming off birth control and it did not take long at all - only a month and a half. There was no stress involved. We pretty much said, "if it happens, it happens." I didn't chart, do OPK's or anything.

Unfortunately, I ended up having a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks and decided to do the D&C procedure on June 15. It only took me 3.5 weeks to get my period, which was July 8, so I was pretty excited about that. However, I am now going into my third cycle of TTC again and am not having any luck at all. I was temping but it was too much for me. I have been using OPK's and continue to take my prenatal vitamins and also eat healthy (which I do anyway) but I think I am letting it consume me and take over my life and it's really stressing me out.

I keep thinking that something is wrong with me from the D&C. I am also not patient at all. I am starting my third cycle and I am thinking about stopping all charting and OPK's. I'm trying to relax and not be so stressed about it. I got pregnant the first time without any of that. Any thoughts and how long it took others to conceive after a D&C?

Thank you!

So sorry for you loss Kaybear
:hugs:
It is unlikely that something is wrong. I have had 2 D&Cs and I have found that it takes my body a few cycles to get back to normal.
I fell pregnant very quickly the first two times 4 months and then 3 months. After my first D&C it took us 8 cycles of trying to fall again. Sadly that one also ended in MC.
Me and DH are currently trying again and we are now onto cycle 7.
It sucks that it takes so long, but remember it is normal to take up to one year for a healthy couple to conceive. Falling pregnant in the first few months is not the norm, it takes a while for most of us. However some women are very lucky and they do get caught very quickly.

I would definatley step away from temping. It's far to stressful and stress can hinder conception. OPKs should be ok as you don't use them all month long.
I have found that the best thing to do is to keep my mind busy. I no longer try to let it consume me as I know that it takes over your life otherwise as you said.
I focus on things like home improvements and planning holidays.
Sadly we can't control Mother Nature. I have found It's best to just sit back and let her do her thing

Good luck :flower:

Hi ladies!
Kay bear, although I haven't had a D&C I did have a MC. When we decided to try again it took us almost a year. I know it feels like forever but like trying said it's pretty normal for it to take quite a while. Sometimes when I feel like it's taking forever I look at the long term ttc boards. Just try and tell yourself "my body wasn't ready this month" On to next cycle! Fx for you

First off, I am so sorry for your losses! It's never an easy thing to go through and I am so sorry that you had to deal with back to back miscarriages. BIG hugs to you! :hugs: I am glad to see that you are keeping the faith alive and still trying!

Thank you so much for the kind words! They really are comforting to hear. I am not a patient person at all. I'm always questioning everything and assuming the worst. A couple of my friends became pregnant two to three cycles after having a miscarriage so I am constantly comparing myself to them. I know everyone is different, but it's just hard to accept that my body may take a little bit longer to adjust. You're right though - temping made me crazy! It really stressed me out and I felt like my whole word revolved around it. I was also doing OPK's about twice a day - it drove me nuts. I think I'm gonna use OPK's for a few days after my AF, right around when I think I am going to ovulate. It's amazing what our bodies have to go through.

So true yet it's SO hard to tell yourself that! That's one of the main reasons I decided to join these boards. I needed a little more reassurance because I was making myself crazy and I'm like wait, I need to step back and relax a little. In my mind, I had the perfect idea that it would only take like 2-3 months and when it's not happening, I assume something is wrong with me. It's nice to hear that it is normal and that I am not the only one going through this! Did you have a successful pregnancy after your MC?

My DD2 is a rainbow baby :) that's what gives me home that after this last MC I'll have another rainbow baby. Temping made me crazy too. I'm not sure if I want to use OPKs either. I figure if I don't get PG by the end of the year I'll try opks.

Still - I am so glad you were able to have your rainbow baby! It means that there is hope it can happen again! I feel the same way as you. Temping & OPK's are for some people but I don't think it's for me. Haha! It literally made me insane, at least that's how I felt! LOL DH told me I just needed to let it happen. That's how it happened the first time. So I'm trying to let nature take it's course. I agree with you - if I can't conceive by January (my original due date), I may try and take it more seriously. But I don't think it's good for us! It will happen when our body is ready!

I had a d/c in April and like you have been stressing ever since. This cycle I chose to stop temping and only did OPK's. I feel so much more relaxed. It's great! My cycle pretty much went back to normal right away so I felt comfortable I knew when I O'd. I'm keeping busy so the time passes by much mote quickly than if I was sitting here counting dpo.

Starlight did you get a positive opks after you stopped bleeding post D&C or did you wait till after your AF came back?

We're not too far off then. I became pregnant in April and had my D&C in June. My cycles are pretty normal as far as length - I've always been 28 days. But my AF's are different. I began my current AF on Monday and it has been extremely light all week. Like barely covering a tampon. My other AF's were lighter than normal but at least covered a tampon. This one is just really, really light. Is that normal?

And I agree! I have not been focusing on my DPO or any of that. I found that I was O'ing around day 16 or 17.

I didn't do anything between my D&C and my AF. I was way too emotional and it wasn't even a thought in my head. I was just anxious for my AF to come. But with my first cycle, I did get a positive, but I don't think I ever got a real good positive.

Still - Knock on wood, I should be done with AF as of yesterday. It was a long time of spotting & bleeding. I'm used to my cycles being so regular when I was on BC. It throws me off when I have weird cycles like this. Did you stop bleeding yet?

No ma'am:cry: passed more clots. Took hpt and BLARING positive  never ending I swear.

Still, I am so sorry! I am thinking & praying for you. Please hang in there - it will get better! I bled for about 12 days after my D&C then a week later, I got my first AF. It was the longest 3 weeks of my life. I remember thinking at that time - is this ever gonna end? I can't believe it was almost 3 months ago. Time quickly flies by! Here's to hoping you get your AF very soon!

Well so far I have made it almost an entire day of no bleeding! Fx this means it's over.

Kay bear are you in the October testers group?

Still - that's great! So happy for you! Have you stopped bleeding now? Sorry, I need to log on more. I'm also in graduate school, so that takes up a lot of my time (and it keeps me busy!).

I am not in the October testing group. I'm still new to this site so trying to navigate around it. I got a positive OPK today though. :)

Yay for positive opk! I got one the day before so we're pretty close. I stopped bleeding but still randomly spotting. Woooaahhh graduate school, how long until you're finished?

Still - We are pretty close then! I noticed I've had more spotting around my AF as well. I will finish the end of January. It seems soooo close yet so far away! I am beyond ready to be done with school! It's funny - when I first got pregnant, my due date was beginning of January, while I was still in school. While I was excited to be pregnant, I was also worried about finishing the last month. So I think my MC was a blessing in disguise.

Will definitely be less stressful being able to finish without being worried about going into labor or having a newborn to take care of! How many dpo are you now?
