TTC #1 at 38

Hello! I'm 38 and my husband is 36 - we've been married about 1.5 years and are TTC #1. We met later in life - so that puts us in this tricky place of TTC when I'm considered advanced maternal age... We just finished our second cycle and good ole' AF is here again. It's a bummer! Since I was little, the only thing I knew for sure was that I wanted to be a Mommy... Fingers crossed that we don't have to wait too long! Anyone else out there in the same boat?

Jessica, welcome to this site! I am 37 and in the same boat, DH is 40. We just got married late last year and have been TTC ever since. It can be a nerve wrecking roller coaster, especially when AF decides to rear her ugly head. I am still a firm believer that the whole advanced maternal age thing is more propaganda than truth, those studies were largely completed a long time ago....like early 1900s I believe. So I am all about team over 35! Are you using anything to help chart or predict your fertile time? There was a big learning curve when I first started TCC, oh yeah...and lots of acronyms. I wish you the best of luck and feel free to ask any questions you want. This site is super nice and full of knowledgable ladies. I wish you be best of luck and lots of this month so hopefully you will get to graduate to a pregnancy forum soon.

It certainly has been a roller coaster of emotions for me - such excitement, and then such disappointment. Trying not to get too upset when AF shows up, but it's hard!
I've been using a couple of apps - Glow and Ovia - and I just started taking my temp yesterday. I did ovulation tests for the past 2 cycles - the first cycle, I took them too early - seems I'm a late ovulator. Last cycle I got 6 positives in a row! Hmmm... But I'm trying to keep a positive outlook!

Good luck everyone! Mdc - you just made my day. I didn't know those studies were so old! I just got married last year. It's hard not to feel the pressure. By the way, my doctor said he just delivered babies for two women in their early 40s and I have a friend who is 45 and in her 3rd trimester (and she only just got married last year, so that was quick!). Congratulations on your babies, Taurus!

Its nice to know there are other ladies in same position. I sometimes feel people think I am leaving it too late to have a baby at my age but I don't think so.

Same ages here! We've been ttc for about 7 months. On clomid cycle 2 now (tww).
