TTC #1! CD 40 why do I keep getting negatives??

I'm new to this and I'm just looking for a sounding board to put me straight. DH thinks I'm crazy because I keep POAS. I'm obsessed. Every. Day. It's getting expensive. Luckily I found $1 tests at Dollar General. Anyway the scenario is this. Stopped BCP in August. First cycle from 9/1 for 33 days until AF came on 10/4. Suspecting my cycle to be 33 days, I would be 21dpo today. I have been off the pill previously and had a normal cycle after the first month at 34 days, which is pretty close to life before BC when my natural cycle was 36 days. Whatever the length of my cycle.... I'm still on CD40 today. I've never ever had a cycle that long. So someone please tell me why all my tests are giving me BFNs!!!

Another day down, another couple BFNs. I just can't stop testing. I scheduled an appointment for an OB tomorrow. I've never seen one so now I'm nervous to see a new doc and to see what he says
