Hello ladies

Been TTC#2 since November 2010. We have an almost 2 year old daughter and don't want her to be an only child and did, ideally, want 2 fairly close.

Had no problems conceiving with her, we were TTC for 5 months and I had no issues through pregnancy and no previous m/c - sounds like a dream right?

I am basically wondering when you went to your Dr and what you said to get tests done etc?

We've had 3 early losses since we started TTC this time and it's beginning to completely tear me apart. I haven't told Dr about the 3rd loss yet, can't bring myself to say it.

I hope you don't mind me asking :flower:

Hi Puppycat!

Really sorry about your MC's - 3 is a high number - and I think this would warrant your GP referring you straight away to the FS for further investigation to why this might be happening..

For general referrals - it is again a postcode lottery in the UK - In my area if you are under 35 you need to be trying for 2+ years and over 35 1+ year.

I have just been referred - but it feels like an uphill struggle at the moment as I am also trying to conceive my 2nd since Aug 2010 with no success!

I am taking a relaxed approach this month to see if that helps..

When you are ready I would get yourself to your GP and push for referral and definitely get your blood tests done (Day 3 & Day 21).

Hey hun

So sorry to hear of your news. My doctor always told me to wait a year but as you've gone through so much so ready in 8 months they might start to look now.

Stay positive xxx

Thanks you so much for your replies girls. I know I need to tell my Dr about the third loss, I just didn't know what to expect or whether I'd be eligible for any testing.

I am sorry you're still TTC after so long too greengerbera, it's hard work staying positive ruth but I hear it's key :)

Thanks xx

Big hugs to you...

It's hard, isn't it, when things went relatively smoothly the first time round, and then suddenly it's so different when trying for #2?

I have an 18 month old daughter and we've been trying or #2 for the past year. We didn't have a super-easy ride first time, but it didn't take toooo long - a few months of NTNP followed by one of really trying resulted in us getting pregnant, although sadly we had a MMC discovered at 12 weeks... and then 5 months later we were pregnant with our little girl.

I went to see a doctor last week... I'm ovulating and having periods, but my luteal phase is really short so know we may need some help to conceive. She said in this area they normally don't refer to a fertility specialist for secondary infertility until 18 months of trying. However, since I've been charting and it's obvious something isn't right, I'm having Day 21 blood tests this cycle, and then am back to see her and talk referrals to a fertility specialist. I'm hoping I won't have to fight too hard...

It sounds like you'd probably be referred to a specialist because of your 3 losses, if you have a chat with your doctor about it. You haven't been trying the 'official' 1yr/18 months/2 years (depending on GPs/areas) but I think given your GP should still be happy to refer you on for recurrent MC testing at the very least at this stage. Do you have a nice GP you feel ok to talk to and ask for advice?

Good luck xx
