Hi! I am new to the BabyandBump community. My husband and I have been TTC#1 for the past 2 years or so and had to go on a little break from TTC when I found out I had an ovarian dermoid cyst which had to be removed before continuing to TTC. Prior to finding out about the cyst and early on in our TTC journey, we were told our issues were mainly due to secondary infertility issues (low counts/motility) and thing on my front were a-okay. In November we did our first round of Clomid/IUI to help get his soldiers to where they needed to be faster and offer more targets. However, after my second u/s the doctors seen the cyst. Needless to say that IUI was not successful and we're still on the TTC road.

I just had a laparoscopic procedure done 3 weeks ago. Due to the placement of the dermoid cyst, content and size - they had to remove my entire left ovary and the tube along with the cyst =/ . Thankfully, my right ovary is still intact, healthy and functioning as my AF just visited - which is a huge sigh of relief! =) It's been such an emotional rollercoaster and have been so nervous about everything and depressed about all these issues we are encountering.. esp. when the people that we love and surround us either have kids of their own or have shared pregnancy news.

I am now 3 weeks into recovery mode - I am doing well but encounter shooting pains from time to time at my incision sites. I do find myself getting emotional and sometimes depressed. Not sure if it’s just me being sad due to all this stress, or if there is a hormonal imbalance. I would assume that my hormones are off due to losing an ovary, but my doc says that the case is usually only when it’s a full hysterectomy. I do have a post-op next week so hope to get more info.

Wondering if anyone has a similar experience or have info to share that can help me understand and set my expectations?

Best wishes to you all!

Hi lellybaby,

Our stories are quite similar but not exactly the same. My DH and I have also been trying for almost 2 years as well. I just had a laparoscopy done 3/7 just to look around and see if everything was alright well come to find out I was only born with one ovary and tube and it was covered in stage 2 endo. They removed the endo, unblocked the tube, and did ovarian drilling. I have done four rounds of clomid so and the three seemed to help but now after the ovarian drilling they want to see if my ovary will work on its own. I completely understand the emotional roller coaster I feel like I have so much pressure riding on this one ovary and it is my only chance. FXed that it helped but I hope you get your BFP soon!
