DH and I started trying at the end of January for our first LO and despite two pregnancies, I'm still waiting to be able to get out of first trimester. We got our first BFP in February but I had a CP just a couple of days later. We tried again immediately and got our second BFP straight away. I didn't think we would be that lucky but it wasn't to be. I started spotting/bleeding at the beginning of April and on the 16th I went for a scan where they told me I had an ectopic pregnancy. It was a complete shock as I thought that I had purely miscarried, not that there was a little baby inside me with a heartbeat! Anyway, I had to have a laparoscopic salpingectomy, they removed my left tube.

Now just about a month on I am raring to get started TTC again. I'm no longer bruised or sore (that went after a week or two) but I do have a couple of stubborn stitches that are taking their sweet time to dissolve! The consultant and the doctor at the hospital both told me that they were happy for me to begin trying again after my first cycle whenever I felt emotionally up to it. The consultant even went so far as to say if I fell pregnant before my first cycle he wasn't concerned. However, DH and I decided to wait and I'm now expecting AF any time from now.

I'm a bit anxious about trying again. Terrified that I'll either have another miscarriage or another ectopic. My mum had an ectopic and went on to have five healthy babies (even twins) so I know it's completely possible to conceive but I'm still scared I'll have difficulty getting pregnant, especially after I managed to get pregnant so easily before.

I don't expect this AF to be bang on time but I normally have pretty regular cycles (28-30 days) which has made conceiving easier. Has anyone found an ectopic to really mess with your cycles?

So sorry to hear about your losses and recent ectopic. Just wanted to give you hope....
I had a missed ectopic which ruptured and I lost my left tube. Due to extensive internal bleeding my doctor said just give my body 2 months to heal before ttc.
My surgery was Nov 1st and I had a bfp in the first week of January. I am now 22 weeks pregnant, so don't give up hope and try to relax.

Good luck!

:hi: LynAnne,

Im in a similar position, we had been TTC for two years and were about to start clomid when i got a surprise :bfp: whilst my hubby was over the moon, I felt very cautious about it and then I started to get pains in my right side, at first i thought it was my IBS playing up but then after the second day by this time i was doubled over in pain and had started to spot. The Dr referred me to the EPAU where they diagnosed an ectopic in my right tube, I was gutted. I had the surgery to remove my tube last friday so im still recoverying but am itching to start again.

My only problem is im now terrified of TTC again and being ectopic and loosing my other tube along with my fertility

Thanks girls. Sorry to hear of your losses.

I'm scared of losing my other tube too - especially after I had a dream about it the other night. I keep reminding myself that my mum went on to have four successful pregnancies (one of which was twins) after her ectopic so there is no reason why I can't have one or two at least.

AF has been and gone with me. It was heavier and more painful for three days but overall ended up being the same length as usual. I'm glad that my first one is over though. At least now I can truly feel like I can look forward and start TTC, even though I'm still really scared about something else going wrong. At least this time I'll get a scan at the EPU about week 6.

Glad your well Hun and feeling better, I'm still waiting for AF I know what you mean though once that's over and done with it will be like then end of this nightmare and I can finally start to move on
