Hello Ladies,
Please am sorry to butt in here but I have a question and can't bear to hear my doctor tell me 'don't worry about it so much, you will be fine' one more time. We have been TTC actively for about 7 months now.
I was recently diagnosed with Trichomonas Vaginalis (spelling) and doctor prescribed Flagyl and Ofloxacin for DH and I.
We will be through with the drugs today and would like to continue to TTC immediately. Can we?
Has anyone treated Trich and still gotten pregnant? How long after treatment did you get your BFP?
Any contributions will be highly appreciated.

I would advise waiting at least 2 weeks before TTC. This will allow your body to fully remove all the medications from your liver and kidneys. You of course can do whatever you want but I would say to wait just to be sure because I know for certain that Flagyl is not recommended for women who are pregnant.

I agree with above, it takes two weeks for the medication to fully work and for the med & STD to be out of your system, also make sure your partner took their medicine too, or else it will just get passed back and forth (they normally recommend no sex for 2 weeks). Any infection down there can be harmful to baby.
I hate to say this, but did they check you for other infections as well? It's just been my experience in the ER that when we swab someone for trich that we also swab for chlamydia/gonorrhea as well, and we always recommend HIV screening with it.

geez I didn't even answer the question lol. Of course you can get pregnant after being diagnosed with trich, they just recommend waiting the two weeks before having sex and trying since Flagyl isn't the best for pregnancy (it's one of the ones that hasn't proven or not proven to be harmful).
I have many repeat pts in the ER who we have treated multiple times for trich and other pelvic infections and they go on to have healthy babies.

Thanks and yes they were carrying out a routine check when that came up.
So its my guess that they checked for everything right?
I already told DH that we need to wait for one week after I checked med sites via Google and he agreed reluctantly. So I really need to think of how to tell him its longer.
I don't know.....
Meanwhile do you know how long it may likely take to get a BFP after it clears? If I have to wait for long after it clears to have a chance at conceiving it'll drive me absolutely crazy!
Sorry to keep asking, just so worried cos its stressful enough without the additional pressure!
