Hi all

I've been in my current job for 17 months now. It's full time and well paid. The problem is, I can't stand it. It's getting worse for a variety of reasons and I'm just not at all happy there anymore.

I applied for another job, which I've now been offered an interview for. It's just a lot less money (14k a year less) however it is Monday to Friday, 9-3 term time only.

Long term this would suit us so much better, we have a dd who is 2 so when she goes to school this would be PERFECT it's the short term that would be difficult.

We're also ttc, so it means I'd also lose my maternity package. Money would be tight but we'd manage, although I'm not sure how we would if we only got maternity allowance.

With dd I got made redundant and had to have maternity allowance, but we had no mortgage then and no child care to pay for.

I don't know what to do for the best :nope:

Personally I'd go for it, if not you'll always wonder 'what if?'. Look into if you'd qualify for any benefits if you changed, would your DD get free nursery hours? I was made redundant earlier in the year, my wage came to over £1700 a month which is higher than DH's by a way, but actually we seem to have pulled through somehow and actually as a family we're a lot happier with more time and less money, and we're living within our means.

Thanks for the reply dinah, we still wouldn't qualify for any benefits as my ohs wage is pretty good. We have another year until ds gets her 15 hours free nursery but by then I'm hoping we'll have another.

I think we would feel happier if I did get it, like you say. Just feels like so much to think about!
