Hi, this is my first post so it might be a long one. I went to my docs about 6 months ago as I have alot of the symptoms of PCOS. She did a blood test and said I'm fine, but still no baby. We have one but desperately want a brother or sister for him. The only symptom of PCOS I don't have is erratic periods. But they used to be so regular (to the hour), now they are days and at worst a week out. I don't know what else it could be. The doctor didn't refer me for any tests or anything else. so I am not sure what I should do next. it took us 2 1/2 years to conceive our boy naturally. I am 37 and don't want to be trying for that long before no.2 comes along. What should I do next? Is there a thread that tells me all the things I should be doing? I've heard green tea is good!

Thank you for all your potential replies - I know we are all in the same boat! x

Hi Hon...

The next step is to go to your doctor armed with all the information that you have given here and let them know that you are interested in Assisted Fertility. More than likely, if you have PCOS (as I do too), they will give you either Metformin or Clomid or possibly both.

If you use lubrication, consider switching to pre-seed as it is sperm friendly. Other kinds are not. Also, if you do not already temp and chart, that also may be a good place to start as it will help to tell you if you are really ovulating.

Good luck with your journey.

Sarah
(PS - I was in TTC for 10 years so I understand the frustration)

Hi Loopy Lou,

I would say similar to Sarah. You really need to go to your gp and let them know everything about trying previoulsy for 2.5yrs, and then the trouble you are having this time.

How long are your cycles usually? I would say you need to start keeping a temperature chart if you don't already. (boots do a good one). Basically you need to take your temperature everyday in the morning before you get out of bed, then after ovulation you should notice a rise in temperature, (take a look at my chart below). This will show you if your ovulating.

I would have thought that being 37 (no offence) they would help you in everyway they can.

My doc put me on metformin and clomid as i have pcos.

If you have any more questions just ask.

Thank you for your replies. I have been putting off going to the doctors as I know they will try to fob me off. But I'm going to be brave and make an appointment tomorrow. I'm also going to get that book by Zita West (is that right?). Hubby is terrified it might involve him having some tests but hey ho that's the way it goes. He just keeps saying we've got years yet, but I know different. Men just don't get it eh?

Men are pretty useless about medical stuff! They never want to go to the doctors for anything!

Give him a little nudge (push) in the right direction!

I agree with Milliemoo, go armed with your info and with a clear idea of what you want./need your doc to do, I turned 38 on Friday and my gp told me I dont have time to waste (i have pcos, under active thyroid and am aneamic) so put me on clomid as soon as I got up the courage to go and talk to him... My oh was the same re believing time was our side, he now knows different lol

Def start temping its a pain but gives you a really good idea what your body is doing, there is a great online charting place called Fertilityfriend.

Good luck
