I roughly 7 weeks post loss. I never really stopped bleeding. Well now I am on my period. We want to try right away and I was told we could try as soon as I felt up to it. Was wondering if anyone has used Clomid on their first cycle after miscarriage or if you waited a couple cycles???? I would like to get pregnant again ASAP and we have only ever gotten pregnant on Clomid.

I took Clomid to get pregnant in January- and my doc said I had to wait a bit to reintroduce fertility meds so things could get back to normal. I would honestly wait at least 1-2 months before reintroducing that. It's been about 9 weeks since my mc and I am just now taking fertility meds again. I *WILL* say- if you can- I'd ask for Femara instead of Clomid- Clomid can linger in your body for up to EIGHT weeks after you take it and my doc said he actually sees a slightly higher mc rate in those who take Clomid. It CAN be a great drug and personally- I'd probably consider taking it again- but Femara is for sure my first choice after talking to my fertility specialist. The side effects are less and it only stays in your body about 44 hours after your last pill as opposed to weeks on end which affect your lining and such. :hugs:

So are you implying my miscarriage could have been caused by the Clomid?

I have no way to know that- nor do I have any way to know that Clomid caused my own, you know?? But I do know that Clomid does have some negative side effects- affecting the lining being one of them- and with it lasting up to 2 months- it certainly isn't something to totally rule out. It's very possible it had nothing to do with the Clomid too.. but if my FS who does this for a living says he sees a slightly increased rate of miscarriages with it.. I am sure that comes from somewhere. It makes sense too- if the lining isn't as good as it should be or could be- it definitely is going to impact the embryo and the blood flow, nutrients, etc.. that are going to the baby you know??

There are a TON of women who have successful pregnancies with Clomid.. so I don't think it's the worst thing there is.. I just know for myself that after reading and studying all that I have~ I definitely prefer Femara now. Plus I barely noticed I was on it which is really nice too!

Best of luck dear! :hugs:

I highly doubt my doctor would have perscribed me a inferior drug which may have a higher miscarriage rate. He perscribed Clomid to be with my health and possible future pregnancy in mind. I will have to trust his medical opinion on this.

I would definitely trust your doctor- my OB gave me Clomid and I ADORE my OB and I know his main goal is my health and getting me pregnant... but it HAS been shown to have a slightly higher risk of mc... that's just something to be aware of... something a fertility doctor told me and you can read about as well.
