Hi Guys,

I wanted to start a thread to see if there is anyone else out there in the same situation as me.

My husband and I are currently TTC, have been trying for a couple of months now. This comes after a long history of 'girl' problems!
I was diagnosed with PCOS about 5 years ago and was put on the pill to regulate my periods. This hasnt been a problem, apart from the usual excess hair and weight gain!! :dohh:
Last year my doc reffered me to a Gynae doc as i was having very bad period pain and a pain in my left side when i wasnt on my period. To cut a long story short, they found that i had a chocolate cyst with endometriosis. I had the cyst removed through laproscopy but the doc found that i had a frozen pelvis - everything stuck together ie my bladder stuck to my bowl and my falopian tubes stuck to my uterus. I was cleaned out but have been suffering with pain ever since. Aparently something i have to deal with unfortunately.
I had a test about 18 months ago to see if i was ovulating and aparently i was but now when it comes to TTC the home ovulation kits say that im not :nope:
I know i need to keep positive and keep trying but im getting increasingly concerned that its just not going to happen.

Has anyone got any similar stories / tips on alternative therapies etc that has helped them??

Sometimes it feels like my body is completely failing me!!

hello spanna143...

I was diagnosed with polycysts on my only ovary last june. All the docs & even the fs i am seeing says i havent got the syndrome part of it but i really beg to differ!!! i have bad skin on face & back all the time, sometimes gets sooo bad break outs that i hide in my house so not know one looks at me!!! I have excess hair under my belly button & quite a few hairs around my nipples & also get the odd hair on my chest!! painful when i pluck them lol!!....

we have been ttc for 17 mths now with not a sniff of a BFP so i am currently on my 3rd cycle of clomid even though i appeared to be ovulating ok from the bloods i had done....i have been having symptoms of endometriosis for roughly 10 mths now....seems to be getting worse, like bad low back pain, painful periods, spotting b4 af arrives, clots in af, painful intercourse, pain when emptying my bowels. Did you have any of these symptoms??? My fs said that i didnt need a laparoscopy as the scans ive had done would show endo. I had heard differently so i got a 2nd opinion from my doc & he confirmed my doubts & said that scans wouldnt show it. So i paid private to see a laparoscopy specialist & he has agreed that i do need 1 & luckily i can still get it on the nhs as cant afford the £3000 bill!!! due to have it done in 2 weeks but coz of all the referral letters that need to be sent ect i still havent got an exact date :(

How did you find the laparoscopy?? im soo nervous!! its my daughters bday at the end of the mth & im worried im not going 2 be recovered for her party :(

What ovulation tests have you been using??? I use clear blue & seem to always get a smiley face on same day every mth.

Hoping you get a BFP very soon xxx

Hi Dancingkaty1,

Thanks for replying.

I have been using the tesco;s ovulation kits and havent had any positive's yet. I bought a clearblue one today to try for next month and see if that makes a difference.

Have you ever tried any alternative therapy's?? Im thinking about trying relexology, my friend swears that she conceived her son by using it. Im also trying Evening Primrose to try to boost my fertility. Have you heard anything about that??

A lot of what you said does sound very familular. I was really lucky in that i have a very very good gynae and she did everything she could to help me.
You are right in that the endo cant be picked up on a scan. I had a scan initially to see if there was anything abnormal and that is how they found my cyst. Once i was diagnosed with the cyst i had to wait about 3 months to see if it went away on its own. I was in pain with it but not enough to ever take any pain killers. After 3 months it grew to 5cm's and they decided to take it out incase it wrapped round my tubes.
I wasnt that worried about the laproscopy. I was quite lucky because i had bupa cover so got in quite quickly but had to fit it in before i got married!! :wedding: I was in and out of theatre within an hour and then let home the next day. You may get out the same day - i was meant to but because they did more work on me they wanted to keep an eye on me.I dont know how much they will have explained to you and if your surgeon will do it differently but i had 3 incisions - the main one through my belly button and then 2 just above my hip bones (one on each side). When i woke up, i wasnt really in any pain. Because they put air into your belly so they can see what they are doing, the only pain that i had was trapped wind!! They should explain it all to you but it got caught under my diaphram so i had to drink lots of peppermint tea to displace it but it soon goes away. It was more uncomfortable than anything. I was in quite a lot of pain for about 4 days afterwards and didnt really move off the sofa but after that i would say that it got a lot better, you just have to really take it easy.
When they opened me up i was a lot worse than they thought and like i said all my organs were stuck together so i had a LOT of work done. I was signed off work for 2 weeks but i probably could have gone back after a week and half!! You are probably not that bad so it will take less time. I know someone who had a little 'clear out' and was fine after a couple of days.

Does that all make sense?? I hope it wasnt too much info....I guess all im trying to say is, please dont be nervous. It does hurt but its hopefully going to be worth it. My Gynae said that its fertility is best straight after the lap. I had to wait 3 months to try her theory but i have everything crossed for that BFP!! (for both of us!) :)

hi spanna143 ...

Yes i have used epo for about 3 mths now.....altho this mth i used the maximum dose ( 3000) this mth i also tried robitussin cough medicine 3 times a day leading up to ovulation....def noticed a dif ( meant to thin out the cm to allow sperm to swim easier!).....really hoping this has worked this mth as it tasted sooo gross!! also have been taking vit b 50 complex for a few mths as since i came off the pill in sept 08 i have had spotting b4 my af arrives....by aug 09 the spotting was for 4 days b4 my af was due!! i started clomid end oct & i dont know if its the clomid or the vit b complex but i only spot for 1 or 2 days now b4 af.

Thanks for the info about the lap.....

xxx
