Hello All. I'm new to this board and I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself on here. I'm 27 and my fiance is 38. We've been TTC naturally for about 5 years now, with absolutely no luck. After the first two years I spoke to my GYN about it, and she told me not to worry about anything. She also said the same thing after 3 years. :growlmad:

About a year and a half ago, he finally decided to have a sperm analysis done, and we discovered that he has a low sperm count as well as a low motility rate. :sulk: But at least we now know the problem. His doctor stated that we should have not problem conceiving with an IUI at least.

So last summer I made an appointment with a fertility specialist. I went to a well recognized local hospital, and having no insurance, I quickly found out what a scam that hospital was. They gave me inaccurate price quotes for the various tests and procedures repeatedly. And their way of saving me money was to eliminate a lot of the recommended tests. Ultimately, we simply didn't have the money to spare at the time. :sad2:

So about a month ago I found a new practice. They are AMAZING. First of all, I found out that the previous hospital I was seeing was charging exorbiant prices for their procedures. I will now be able to have an IUI done, with all of the recommended tests for, literally, a quarter of the cost. Plus this practice comes with a much higher recommendation than the last hospital that was seeing me.

I was so elated after my first visit with them because I finally felt like we were doing something. I mean, the first hospital I saw, simply met me with and talked. When I went to the new practice, we sat a talked for a bit, but she also decided to do a vaginal exam and an ultrasound - much more than the last place wanted to do. And now, I am simply waiting for the final test before an IUI - the HSG test (just want to be positive that there's no problems on my end). That's scheduled for next week. Then onto the IUI!

Hey hun welcome to this side of the forum.:)Oooooooo GL with your IUI.Any Qs i will be only to happy to answer for you :)

I had my first IUI last month and will have another one this month. The women on this forum are amazing! I have found so much support and it is great to "chat" with women who are going through the same things you are.

There is a forum called IUI April or April IUI where there are a lot of us discussing IUI and our procedures in the month of April. Come on over if you're interested :)

Thanks, ladies. :)

Irishgirl - How many IUI's have you had? What success have you had with them? I'm never sure how much to rely on the statistics of conception, since (as far as we know right now) I have no fertility issues myself. I feel like I'm pretty familiar with the actual procedure because I've simply done so much research on it. But since I've never actually had it done, I'm still a bit nervous, obviously. ;)

Springy - Thanks for the invite, but I'm thinking my IUI won't happen until May, since I have a longer cycle.

You're still welcome to come in and get support from us as well as you can hear all about our experiences so you're more prepared for yours in May.

So much of this TTC journey is the mental side and finding people in the same situations and with similar experiences. I have noticed a huge difference in my mental outlook since joining this forum. I now do not feel "alone" and have found so many wonderful women who I can relate to.

Hope all goes well and that you can get your IUI underway in May.

Thanks, ladies. :)

Wanted to wish you all the very best of luck with IUI hun... that is great you found a good clinic that is doing what they need to do. That is SO important!!!!

This is the first step to making your baby dreams come true!!!! Just tell yourself it WILL happen hun :)

My personal experience with IUI was fantastic! Our clinic was great and after all the poking and prodding that first month, lol, it really felt like it would happen for us finally...

FX's for ya!!!!

Bella~Hey hun:)Glad you joined us on the April IUI thread xoxoxWe will be doing our 2nd IUI next cycle:)

Hello Bella,

I too have just joined the April iui club thread but my 1st cycle has just been abandoned after all the blumming injections, as i was sick with a bug so couldnt attend hospital.

I have found this iui forum / thread very very helpful and supportive. All the ladies are so nice and it's great because we're all experiencing similar or same things..... its nice to read other's experiences and think 'good, its not just me who feels like that'

I wish you all the best and lots of luck with you iui - lets hope we all achieve our dream!

xx roma xx

Irishgirl - I'm sorry the first one didn't work out for you. But it sounds like we'll both be going in May then? *fingers crossed*

Roma - I couldn't agree more about the support. I don't personally know anyone else who has experienced fertility problems, so this was initially very hard for me. I mean, I can talk to my best friend, but as supportive as she is, she has 3 beautiful children that have all come very easily and naturally for her; so it's hard for her to relate. And I definitely don't speak to my family about these things. To begin with, there are problems between us, and I simply don't confide in them. However, my mother is also very much against any kind of medical assistance to treat infertility. So, yeah. This forum has become a really big help for me.

Btw, it sounds like you'll also be going for your IUI next month as well. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you as well. ;)

Wishing everyone lots and lots of :dust:

This truly is a godsend, being able to talk to so many people going through the exact same thing. It makes me feel normal, sane, and reassured... I just found the forum recently and started posting just a day or two ago, but it is very therapeutic and I am so glad such sites exist and are member directed rather than profit directed :)
