Hello All. I'm new to this board and I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself on here. I'm 27 and my fiance is 38. We've been TTC naturally for about 5 years now, with absolutely no luck. After the first two years I spoke to my GYN about it, and she told me not to worry about anything. She also said the same thing after 3 years.
About a year and a half ago, he finally decided to have a sperm analysis done, and we discovered that he has a low sperm count as well as a low motility rate. But at least we now know the problem. His doctor stated that we should have not problem conceiving with an IUI at least.
So last summer I made an appointment with a fertility specialist. I went to a well recognized local hospital, and having no insurance, I quickly found out what a scam that hospital was. They gave me inaccurate price quotes for the various tests and procedures repeatedly. And their way of saving me money was to eliminate a lot of the recommended tests. Ultimately, we simply didn't have the money to spare at the time.
So about a month ago I found a new practice. They are AMAZING. First of all, I found out that the previous hospital I was seeing was charging exorbiant prices for their procedures. I will now be able to have an IUI done, with all of the recommended tests for, literally, a quarter of the cost. Plus this practice comes with a much higher recommendation than the last hospital that was seeing me.
I was so elated after my first visit with them because I finally felt like we were doing something. I mean, the first hospital I saw, simply met me with and talked. When I went to the new practice, we sat a talked for a bit, but she also decided to do a vaginal exam and an ultrasound - much more than the last place wanted to do. And now, I am simply waiting for the final test before an IUI - the HSG test (just want to be positive that there's no problems on my end). That's scheduled for next week. Then onto the IUI!
