So, I don't know if my issues are ovarian (bilateral ovarian cysts, one simple, the other more solid) OR, if they are thyroid issues (which cause many of the same symptoms) or if it's both (which I suspect)... I"m having thyroid testing done in the morning.

I"m 37, 120lbs and 5'2 1/2"
elevated LH, been trying for 8 months with no success. Symptoms are:
dizzy, lightheaded, nauseous/vomiting, sooooo sluggish/tired/weak, shortness of breath, occasional elevated blood pressure 140/80 (huge surprise because i've always been healthy!)...<---all thyroid possibilities... PLUS, discharge out of left nipple, heavy feeling uterus, cramping in uterus down legs and to my back, and sensitive nipples
All of this has been the past 6 weeks with BFN (confirmed over and over via pee stick)
Not sure that i"m actually ovulating.

Cycles range from 16 days to 49 days (and counting).

Did you get pregnant with thyroid issues?
how?

Thank you in advance

You seem to have some high and low thyroid symptoms. This can happen with Hashimotos, so I hope they are testing for both thyroid antibodies, along with TSH, free t4 and free t3. Your nipple discharge might be high prolactin, which can get wacky with thyroid problems. Progesterone can often be off with thyroid issues as it can mess up lots of hormones. You should have progesterone checked cd 21, or 7 dpo if you don't have the perfect cycle of 28 days & ov on cd14.

Those are my initial thoughts! Good luck to you.

I have a thyroid issue that really messed everything up. I'm much better now, but don't have everything sorted out yet. Hope there's a simple fix for you!

Thank you so much. How do they fix it?

They are running basic thyroid tests testing for two levels and if those are wonky they will run a more extensive panel :) I should know something tomorrow.

Well, it sounds like they are running just TSH and T4 initially. Pretty standard and disappointing, in my opinion. Many, many drs think thyroid problems are easy to diagnose (just check those 2 tests), and easy to treat (just give a T4 only replacement like synthroid). For some that is fine. For others, those 2 tests don't tell the whole story.

The thyroid antibody tests (TPO--thyroid peroxidase; and ATA--antithyroid antibody) can help identify if there is a problem, or there will be down the line, sometimes even before the TSH and T4 tests get wacky. T3 can also be an issue, even if the TSH and T4 aren't too far off, so I wish all drs would automatically check that, but many don't.

I hope things are straightforward for you. Your strange cycles could also be a sign of PCOS, so you may want to look into that. Again, it's all about the hormones! Let me know your results, if you want.

I had an ultrasound done recently, I do have bilateral ovarian cysts, one is a simple functional cyst, the other, we aren't sure. But those were the only two cysts they saw so that's good. My endometrium is a bit thinner than we'd like but that could just be from the hormonal whack too. I go back in next wednesday for another ultrasound of the mystery cyst so hopefully we can get that diagnosed and taken care of.

I'm lucky that they are even doing those two tests. It's tricare, and it's a fight to get them to do much. I agree with you. I'm disappointed too but at least it is a start.

Hi!

We ttc for about 13 cycles before we saw a RE. She tested my thyroid hormone levels and decided to place me on synthroid. We got pregnant 1 cycle after taking it and I gave birth to Ava last month. Before we saw her, my thyroid function wasn't tested. So we are thankful to her!

That's awesome! My ob wanted me to go to an RE but then we switched insurance to an HmO, nightmare...holy moly. I'm hoping we an get the ovaries and thyroid sorted out soon and be on our way. I love the happy ending stories like yours. Is there any danger in taking aunt house while pregnant is is it totally fine?

Hello piper183,
I'm on levothyroxine and have been taking it since July but this is my first cycle TTC and I'm on cd 12. Hoping I'm successful. Like the others that have written I have scared myself with looking at info on the internet about how hypothyroidism can affect fetal development. Glad to hear a positive story like yours.

I suffer with an underactive thyroid and i'm on 150mg. I have just found out i had a blighted ovum and go for my next scan tomorrow. Not sure if the blighted ovum is due to my levels not been corrected immediately? (i was on 100mg before pregnancy) and was tested at 6 weeks.

J xx

Flowerbomb--So sorry to hear about your loss. My understanding is that as soon as you get pg you should get your levels tested as you may need an increase in meds immediately. I hope this wasn't what caused your problem, but if it was, it is something that can be remedied.

P.S. Don't know if your handle is in honor of the perfume, but I wear it & DH loves it!

CaliChristine--do you feel good, symptoms eliminated & no other issues? If everything is good, then no reason why you can't conceive! I hope it doesn't take too long for you. Thyroid issues can cause problems with other hormones, so if you do have trouble, it might be helpful to make sure your progesterone and prolactin, for example, are normal. My progesterone tends to be low.

If you do get pg, just make sure you get in right away because you will most likely need an immediate dosage increase & will probably need several prior to the 2nd tri, which I think is when the placenta takes over making thyroid hormone for baby.

hellodarling--how are things with you??

Is anyone on a combo of meds that somehow includes T3? Just curious if you are all on T4 only or not. I am not currently on any T4 only med, instead I'm taking Naturethroid (T4 & T3) and Cytomel (T3). I seem to have a problem converting T4 to T3 so I need higher amounts of T3 directly to compensate. I needed an integrative dr to help me figure that out, though; 2 Endocrinologists made me feel like an old lady hypochondriac for saying that I still had symptoms even though my numbers looked good to them. It's not all about the numbers!

It turns out all that wacky stuff was due to some crazy hormone producing cyst that finally resolved aaaaand, miraculously, I'm not sick anymore. Crazy huh????? So now, I just have to lay back and be patient. If it happens it happens <3

I'm hoping to hear more updates from you ladies as well.
