TTT #1 on Femara

Hello, Everyone.

This is my first time actively TTC.
I was on birth control for about 8 years--went off in August 2014.

There was suspicion of PCOS 8 years ago, hence the BC, but now that I am off I have received a textbook diagnosis of PCOS and was put on Femara.

This is my first cycle and I am new to all of this. My normal cycles are very sporadic and impossible to predict.

Monday was cycle day 11 with 4 follies, 8, 8, 8, 11.

Yesterday was cycle day 14 with only one strong follie at 15mm on right ovary. (all the rest were 8 or so)

I am going to start OPK today (CD16)

With a 15mm follie on CD 14, when should I expect to Ovulate/plan intercourse?
We are not using trigger shots or insemination as of yet because of cost.

Hiya! I also have PCOs and have been on Femara for about 6 cycles now. (But have been TTC for 19 cycles) If it helps any, I got pregnant on my second round of femara but it ended up being ectopic.

Anyway! I take 5mg of Femara from day 3-7. Then, I typically ovulate about a week later. I don't know anything about the follicle sizes as I don't really pay attention to them at my ultrasounds. I just pay attention to how many look good.

I would suggest just BDing every other day after you take your last pill. I wouldnt even worry about using OPKs, honestly. You know you are going to ovulate after you take Femara, so I would just save your money I would probably temp though to confirm O and to know when to stop BD.

Either way, that is my typical schedule with Femara. I take it from 3-7, like I said, then I start BDing like CD7 or 8 and BD every other day until I know I have O'd which is typically CD14-16. Then the two week wait commences!

So following up,

Thursday I had a 15 mm follie at Dr.

friday I used opk and didn't realize it was positive until today it was so clearly negative.

So if I had LH surge yesterday and a negative OPK today,

1.) is today ovulation? Did I miss it?

2.) if I ovulated with 16-18mm is it even viable?

Again, I don't really know much about the follicle sizes so I can't help there.

As far as when you ovulated.... OPK detects the LH surge which happens 12-48 hrs before. Having a negative today doesn't necessarily mean that O is today. It could be tomorrow. Having a negative OPK just means that your surge is over.

If you aren't temping (which would confirm exact O time), then I would suggest just to continue BD for 2 days after your +OPK and then you should be covered.

As far as sizes go, a follicle usually grows 1-2mm a day, a good size follicle is 18mm - 22mm
