I went in for induction on Friday the 10th at 7 am. By the time we got all of our paperwork and formalities out of the way, it was about 9:30 and time to insert the Cervadil tablet. After inserting the tablet, contractions were about 5 minutes apart, but not too painful. After waiting 4 hours, my OB checked me and I had only dilated to about 3 centimeters. :nope: We decided I would walk and sit on the birthing ball and see if that would help move things along, and move his head, as he was positioned incorrectly causing back labor. Everything was going okay, but I was still convinced that it wasn't going to work, and we would be sent home (I was told by the nurse if I hadn't made much progress, they would send me home and retry another day!!) Finally at about 2 pm, (I still wasn't in much pain!) my Dr decided he would try breaking my water, it was definetly an odd sensation, as I felt the large pop and gush. With my other two, my water had gone naturally so I wasn't sure what to expect. As soon as my water broke, labor took off like crazy! I progressed to a 6 within 3 hours! We believed it was going to be a long labor so we didn't think it would go by so quickly. Unfortunately, my LO's heartrate kept dropping with each contraction, and things were looking a c-section would be needed. I was so heartbroken, but prepared to whatever it took to get baby out safely. I opted for an epidural to try and help me relax and help take the edge off the pain and it was inserted at 6pm....and by 6:30 was fully dilated and ready to push! I was so excited to get bubs out safely and was able to push him out with just two pushes! He scored 9 on his apgar, and was completely healthy. We thought he would be a big boy, being 11 days late...but weighed in at a tiny 6lbs 9oz! We love him so much, and his brothers are very proud.
