We have one in our bedroom that we watch most nights, snuggled up in bed together. We have freeview and a dvd player up there in case there's nothing we fancy watching on tv. I like to watch boxsets, so at least I can get comfy in bed to watch stuff!
My girls have a tv/dvd combi in their room too. Chloe is 3 (4 in Nov) and Sophie turned 2 in July.
I was visiting my Mum for the weekend and Dave decorated Chloe's bedroom whilst we were gone. When I got back, she had the tv in her room! I wasn't keen at all to be honest, but she did love that she could snuggle up with her bears and watch her favourite dvds. (This was when I was expecting Sophie)
They've shared a room for about a year now and love watching their dvds.
It's set so all you can watch are dvds on there. They definitely wouldn't be allowed anything like freeview in their bedrooms until they're at least teenagers.. (and even then will have parental control set up on it)
My girls have an early bedtime and are usually up there between 6pm - 7pm.. we've tried to keep them up longer, but they end up grouchy and crying that they want to go to bed!
So we don't mind that they can go up and watch something together.
They're allowed 2 dvds.. My youngest is usually flat out before the first is finished. After the first, I generally bring them back down for an hour and they might have some supper if they want.. When they're back up, they watch one more dvd, then it's tv off and lights out (except for their little nightlights strung around the room) They'll be asleep within 20mins
