Hello,

Just wondered if anyone has written their birth plan yet?

I'm just starting to write mine and am looking for a few pointers... can anyone help?

thanks in advance!

*stalks board* I need help with this too!

Never bothered with one to be honest. My SIL wrote one and it was chucked aside and never used.

I have very specific things I want done if I have natural birth, like...

If baby is fine, I want skin to skin contact instantly.
I don't want babies gender announced aloud, I want to be the first to look.

Other than that, aslong as baby's needs are addressed, I don't mind.

I have mine, we did it with the hypnobirthing teacher though so it probably isn't that much help and geared to a home birth. Sorry.

I'm not bothering with on as I just believe in going with the flow. There's not much you can do if you plan doesn't go to plan! And u just end up disapointed. I just want wats best for bubs :)

Mine is very simple - Would like to manage on gas and air, would like to stay as mobile as possible, would like baby straight to chest for skin to skin and have agreed to the injection for placenta.

After reading some interesting posts on here am going to ask midwife about delaying cord cutting at our appointment this week as it's not something I'd thought about before.

Basically what's done as standard, except for the cord cutting, I believe that's 'new' in terms of requests.

But because we don't know the gender of the baby, I'd like to be the first one to look. I don't mind if MW sees, but I don't want her going 'IT'S A !!!!'.

In your pregnancy notes you are given, there's an inside back page where u can write notes on how u want labour and after wards to go. I've just scribbled down a few things and stuck post it notes in the boxes! X

I found one on the NHS website and printed it off and filled it in. Was quite useful.

tbh its my 3rd pregnancy and I've never had a birth plan. With my first i went in adamant that i wanted to give birth naturally and well that all changed pretty quickly when my waters broke and their was meconium so i was rushed to labour ward and about 20 doctors later baby was born so everything that i wanted, didn't happen so with my second i went in with the only notes I WANT AN EPIDURAL and well i had one, and after 2 pushes she was out so I've kind of decided this time not to bother again and go in being realistic. I tore real bad both times so i know that whatever happens i need to be in the labour ward again.
Be realistic with what you would like, if you want all natural but your pain threshold isn't too good and an epidural is something you may consider then head straight to the labour ward where they can administer the drug, however your more than happy to start in the low risk ward and they will transfer you if you require any drugs.
Good Luck :)

I used the one on the nhs website too it was quick and easy also filled in the page on my maternity notes - very basic things nothing to heavy going to see how it goes ;)

I did mine last night.
Basically just filled in the section in my notes, and I'll go over it with the midwife on Friday.
I've put in it that id like to labour and give birth in a pool, if available. Otherwise, I'd like a birthing ball, peace and quiet, and for pain relief I'll take anything recommended though I'm not keen on pethidine. I've mentioned that I'm a cord donor, so will need them to inform the centre to get someone over to take it. Also, I'm keen on skin to skin contact after the birth - if I'm unwell my oh will take him for skin contact. And finally, syntocinon and vit K are to be administered.

I've highlighted the fact that these are not demands! I'm well aware that it could go any way when I step through those doors. I have every confidence that the medical staff will keep me right as things progress. They're the experts after all!

Enjoyed discussing it all with my oh - really feels like it's happening! :)
