Hi Ladies :hi:

I live in Ipswich and am currently under the care of the fertility unit at the local hospital, I've not been happy with the care I've been receiving for a little while and am looking into transferring my care elsewhere. So before I go back to my GP for a re-referral, is there anyone here in East Anglia receiving fertility care who can recommend a hospital or clinic to me? I would also appreciate hearing anything about any hospitals in the area so I can work out where would be the best to go. If it helps basically I am looking for a fertility specialist who is not going to rush me through the various stages and straight onto IVF. I want to try everything I can to fall pregnant as naturally as possible.

Thank you :flow:

The best clinic round here is Bourn Hall in Cambridge. Really good success rates for IVF but Its quite far from you. That is where I am being referred to from Bedford Hospital who were lovely with me. x

Thanks Saraht1985 but I'm looking for somewhere that isn't going to rush me into IVF, I don't want to do IVF and firmly believe I don't need it. Bourn Hall is where Ipswich refer you to after you have been through their treatment (clomid and IUI with clomid).

I dont have a choice now. Tried all the other methods so now It's got to be IVF. I can understand why you dont want to rush into anything. But I can't not have a family. x

Hi

I just wanted to wish you well and let you know that the treatment we received at Bourn Hall is second to none. If you're going there then you're in very good hands.
The environment is nothing like a hospital so makes you very comfortable and relaxed to help with the treatment. They also make sure the your partners feel included the whole way through.

Good luck

Thanks for that. I am worrying about it a lot. My husband is worried he wont feel involved enough with this. Congratulations on your pregnancy. I am really pleased for you. It is nice to hear from someone who has been to Bourn Hall and has had a good experience there.

I went to Ipswich hospital fertility and am
now waiting for a second opinion with a lady doc at Isis fertility centre in Colchester (dr Caroline marfleet). Isis also does IUI, ICSI, ovulation induction etc...so it's not just IVF.
I heard that bourn hall have now merged with Isis but nhs will only refer you there after 2-3 years apparently.
Perhaps ask your gp to refer you to Colchester hospital. Dr marfleet works there too. Unfortunately I have not met her yet do can't neccissarily recommend her but I figure she can't be worse than that idiot I saw at Ipswich who insisted I ovd on cd14 last cycle (look at my chart).
Will be interested if you come across anyone you CSM recommend.

Thanks 2016, I've looked at the isis centre previously but been put off cause the idiot at Ipswich hospital works there but I haven't looked at it since they merged with Bourn Hall so may reconsider. Let me know how you get on, good luck x

Yeah I noticed that too  I just insisted I only wanted to see a female doctor and hopefully I won't bump into him!

Hi Ladies,

I was very excited to find this thread when I was searching for info on Dr Marfleet. Can you let me know what she is like?
I am due to see her at Colchester hospital - just been referred due to not getting pregnant and recently dicovered left enlarged ovary with PCOD and septate womb.

Not sure quite what to expect and very nervous. Also, feeling pretty rubbish about myself as I may be the cause of our lack of success. Although my husband is trying to be v supportive!

Any advice would be very welcome.
Cheers

Dr Marfleet is a lovely doctor. She will put you at ease but also is quite direct and doesn't tell you a load of lies and is so patient to answer questions! My treatment with her didn't go very far though because she scheduled me for a HyCoSy but I never made it that far because I
"impossibly" fell pregnant! :haha:
She also seemed to have a lot of authority at Colchester hospital and the local fertility clinic. Hope all goes well for you and you get the help you need.
