UK ladies when are you taking maternity leave??

I work in an office and apart from the days feeling long there isn't too much stress so I'm going to try and stay until just before 39 weeks. I went at 36 and a half weeks with DD and she was 5 days late so I spent a month at home twiddling my thumbs and I don't want that again. I've got 2 weeks holiday from 31-33 weeks and a few long weekends after so hopefully I'll manage to get through.

ive been in labour both times whilst at work so I am taking it easy this time =) about 36 weeks xx

I'm going on maternity leave at 31/32 weeks as suffer with heart problems and other issues. And my job involes standing all the time.
But most people I know went at 36/37 weeks x

I'm hoping to take mine at 37 weeks, but I'm owed two and a half weeks annual leave so will probably go off abit earlier about 34 weeks. I want to have plenty of time at home for nesting before baby comes and get everything sorted x

With my 1st Mat leave started on my due date but he didn't turn up for another 10 days and I worked from home the week before my due date

This time I am due 31 October so I am going to be working from home from 12 October and then using my last 8 days holiday until my Mat leave starts on my due date! I only get 13 weeks full pay so I want everyday with my baby to count  especially as I cannot afford to be off any longer than that :(

I may end up working from home earlier just because I am finding sitting at my desk at work very painful already with my back & pelvis and can only see it getting worse  but we will see

I would speak to your manager as your jobs sounds exhausting and very straining on your body :hugs:

I work in a office and a lot of people say I have it easy as I just sit at a desk but it's is a more physical office job where I am up and down and standing on my feet for some days for a hour or 2 depending what I'm doing on that day and I am exhausted I'm tired and my feet and back hurt but I'm planning to work up to 37 weeks as want more time when the baby comes.

so if I'm finding my job tiring you must be worse as your on your feet all night and working late shifts so I say start maternity as soon as you think it's time and don't worry what anyone else thinks as your entitled to rest, don't push yourself to hard

Last time I was doing same job as OP, I took 2 weeks holiday at 36 weeks and maternity kicked in at 38 weeks, this time I can't decide what to do I'm still on my feet all day although I finish at a better time of the day and I want to work as late as possible so I can have more time off when baby is here, hope to have at least 3 weeks holidays saved up and then a week or 2 maternity before due date.
